Skubal is a star. More impactful than any pitcher on the ‘84 and ‘06 WS squads. Greene is borderline—still only 24, so still projectable and could be at least a top 5-10 AL outfielder. Meadows has the potential—was on that trajectory when he came back from Toledo last season. Created havoc on the base paths, elite defense and 20 HR/60 extra bases upside.
Comparing to the ‘84 squad, here’s my unscientific comparison:
Dingler/Rogers < Parrish
Tork > Evans/Bergman
Torres < Whitaker
Sweeney < Trammell
Baez/McKinstry = Brookens/HoJo
Greene > Herndon
Meadows < Lemon
Carpenter/Vierling = Gibby
Skubal > Morris
Mize > Petry
Flaherty > Wilcox
Olsen > Berenguer
Kahnle = Lopez
Vest < Hernandez
Basically, current rotation better than ‘84 squad, perhaps the pen, too. Think it’s the opposite for the position players, in general.
