Mario > Benetti > Everyone Else > Shep I like Benetti better when he’s with Petry, because Dan doesn’t indulge his silliness. However, I like Dirks much more than Petry. That’s my quandary and why it’s not easy being me.

Benneti reads his own press on X, methinks. I like him, but wish he’d dial it down some. And agree Dirks might be a better fit with an adult in the booth (DD). I suspect we’re seeing more of Dirks on TV to appeal to a younger audience who might be tuning in regularly for the first time given the playoff excitement.

Did you guys see where Chicago are pushing Crochet back from Thursday to Friday to face us? Kind of a douchy move, if that was the reason.

My guess is that Riley signs an extension this offseason. Will be interesting—he’s only 23. Maybe a contract that pays him well for the remainder of his arb seasons and Tigers get him for 2-3 seasons beyond that. Doubt Skubal signs before free agency.

I don’t see Benneti improving upon this. And he spends too much time fixated on ballpark activity unrelated to the actual game. I’d rather he leave that to Johnny Kane, which seems to be his role. I also think you might have unrealistic expectations for a lay person who didn’t play—I’m OK with the “color” guy providing the insights—they are more credible as they actually played. Both Dirks and Gibby excel in this area.

I’m on Team Dirks. Indifferent about Bennetti, though he’s an upgrade over Shep. Would prefer to have Mario back.
