  1. Somebody please tell me how I should feel. Thanks in advance.
  2. This. At least until he can reestablish himself. I put him in the same camp as Mize for next season. Not counting on either, but both have the potential to be very good if they can get it together.
  3. Turnbull is the kind of high risk, high reward signing the Tigers should consider. Except that we already have him. I’m glad he’s still in the mix.
  4. I think we’re really underestimating Skubal’s trade value. Performance-wise, he was elite last season. And he has a reasonable salary. Any concerns would be health-related. His value is higher than ERod’s was, and apparently LA was willing to send us an attractive package for a potential rental. I’d expect that (plus) for Skubal).
  5. Malloy currently represents the lone Harris -era option to be a lineup regular.
  6. Ding ding. I knew Edman would take the bait 🤣
  7. I’m not worried about Greene, until his next injury. I think he’ll be ready for OD. Barring outside moves, it’ll be Greene/Meadows/Carpenter with Vierling filling in. Baddoo is one expensive Uber ride away. Where it gets interesting is in the infield.
  8. They are going to want to take an innovative approach and do something novel. It’s going to be Emily Walden
  9. If they throw in Tatis, I can get on board. We could also sweeten it with Wingeter to make it a no-brainer for them.
  10. Who else is St. Louis sending? And is Walker that significant of an upgrade over Keith or Jung, that you would surrender your ace? I do suspect that Skubal would be the starting pitcher to be traded, but I also think it would (and should) be an overwhelming haul in return. If he goes, I would like to think we’re getting our next catcher (here’s looking at you, Dodgers). I think we’d be selling low on any of our other starters—agree that Manning would not command very much.
  11. ? He had TJ on his non-throwing elbow. Rub some dirt on it in March and get your ass out there. Joking aside, I would be shocked if he misses much, if any, outfield time in 2024
  12. Did we trade Greene?
  13. In fairness, Nick was drafted as a HS shortstop, with the intent of having him play 3B, which didn’t work out.
  14. Agree on JD. The decision to tear it all down at once was both flawed and unnecessary.
  15. I want the Phillies to win this series but find it impossible to root for Kimbrel, who continues to look like a douche before every pitch.
  16. I soured on Nick when he would whine about Comerica’s outfield dimensions. He was never going to be successful here.
  17. In an effort to appeal to a younger audience, I suspect we’ll see a PBP guy (or gal) under 40. Johnny Kane is over 40, but has a youthfulness to him. I’m looking forward to Shep’s replacement with cautious optimism.
  18. I feel like I’m arguing with my wife. My point, which I believe I made, is that we should not enter into bad contracts in free agency just because we have the payroll. And to think I was going to ask you to grab a beer at a Pit Spitters game next season when I’m in Glen Arbor.
  19. I agree. It’s just slim pickings, so the narrative will be that Ilitch is just cheap.
  20. Didn’t we pass on Semien because we wouldn’t go an extra year? Wish we could have that decision back.
  21. Not when there aren’t any decent options. The few will be overpaid and get too many years. Absent of reasonable upgrades, Im good with Keith and JHM getting PT. I am in support of going after a Tatis or Soto via trade.
  22. the argument that since we have a low payroll, we should spend in free agency to address our offense, is stupid. Having said that, this is definitely Al Avila’s team, with the exception of Vierling, Holton and JHM. Curious how comfortable Harris will be with a team that has the potential to get much better with a core that he inherited. It’s a different situation than Dombrowski, who inherited bad contracts and a barren farm system.
  23. Tigers fans who haven’t sniffed the playoffs in years: “Season is way too long”
  24. I can confidently say that I could not have come up with any of those.
  25. Pretty big pay discrepancy between Mario and Rod, if that report is accurate. Basically doing the same job, the same amount of time. I guess it’s more difficult to find a good PBP than an ex-player to do color—those guys are plentiful.
