  1. He can and he will. If you can mash fastballs you should adjust to off speed but right now he’s a pretzel and can’t hit either. And he belongs on second base. Getting schooled at third does not help his hitting. This and batting him fifth does not make sense to me. Obit hey see a player so why not play him at a position of familiarity and bat him lower. Let him breathe a bit.
  2. Nick Maton will be a good player for us and is worth the anguish.
  3. I don't doubt Scot Harris is thinking along these lines as well. Catching is the weakest position in baseball and a solid receiver who bats left-handed with maybe 15 homer potential is hard to find. How many are there now in the major leagues ? Smith, Rutschman, Raleigh any more ? Plus considering where we are in our "rebuild" a solid win at catcher might be the safe and smart plan plus maybe save some $$ for later picks. Good news is we will add solid piece with the 3 pick.
  4. No not anymore it’s the five spot for the gritty low everything hitter. Just ask Hinch.
  5. Foley and Holden might be our most sought after relievers.
  6. Bring back the knuckle ball pitcher. I would have thought there would be many coming forward. It's of speed and "shapie" and most important easy on the arm. I think a pitching staff with one or two knuckleballers would go a long way. It must be hard to do.
  7. So is Verling becoming our right fielder for the next few years. Can we check off right field on our to do list ?
  8. Sign Max Don’t extend Miggy Replace DD with a new age POBO like Harris Keep Verlander That’s all. Results would be very different.
  9. We all know that RBI is not a solidly meaningful statistic BUT when your team is last in runs scored in baseball it stands to reason that those RBI's might..maybe..have more value than in the traditional sense. Possible ?
  10. throwing away 5 % of your season with a 9 game losing streak really leaves a mark but todays win still could spark us forward. Tork and Baez might have life and Skuball is around the corner. Still some must watch TV..er must listen radio this season.
  11. Are we underestimating Zack Short ? Is it possible he is developing under the radar into a regular contributor going forward ? Or is it just SSS and a mini hot streak.
  12. When Tork hit that homer I was surprised by his "easy power' and quick bat which seemed different to my unprofessional eyes. Like maybe he is starting to settle in. That was just BOOM.
  13. Well they have Rendon also. As stated by others baseball needs depth and some good fortune and health plus health and injury free. See Tigers. Detroit. We are better just thin.
  14. I agree. I watched him last night and unbelievably they brought him out for the seventh inning despite winning 12 to zip and about 80 pitches. He looked ordinary that inning. Tired or uninspired. Hope we pass on him. My money is on Jenkins. I think Crews and Langford go 1 and 2.
  15. I thought Dirks was solid. He did not sugar coat like all the rest. For example he said clearly that Wentz fastball and off speed was essentially the same speed and not good enough to pitch in the middle of the plate. Bingo. If Wentz can’t paint corners he’s fodder.
  16. JD is still mashing and a likely all star ⭐️ this year.
  17. True but losing this year would be year 2 selecting top six and give Harris two years of low drafts which may play in to keeping players in the minors and unloading at the trade deadline. This is Harris mulligan year and he will use it as such.
  18. 1 Continue to play Tork, Verling , Rogers and Maton at the MLB level in hopes of gaining two or three starters for 2024. 2. Continue to play Keith, Mallory, Meadows in the minors. Don’t rush or panic. 3 Draft well 4. Trade all possible assets at deadline should good deals present themselves. Lange Foley Erod Lorenzen Boyd. Haase McKinstry all available. Don’t be shy. 5. Sign multiple short term free agents in the off season and one solid long term play. 6. Take that calculated risk this off season Be bold. Baez for Tatis ? Take on salary if player solid. 7. Trade in off season. 8 Add rule 5 player 9 Keep working waiver wire.
  19. Maybe our local baseball writers don’t really know baseball. Just promoters for the franchise.
  20. Must be a really sore neck. So many injuries. I think the name Tigers might be revoked.
  21. If the idea of controlling the strike zone is to get a good pitch to hit then there’s no reason to wait. If it’s to work a walk then it’s a losing proposition.
  22. Trust in Baez. The truth has yet to divulged.
  23. I agree with you completely his bat is far far short of 25 million but given where we are now he remains our best option at short. Just gotta believe he will start to hit better. At least some right ?
