  1. Enjoying the 4th book more than the last...has more of a whodunit type feel. Thanks again for the recommendation @Tiger337
  2. Really enjoy the writing and the weird dream type sequences in Goliath. Another one we just got back into...we started season 4, but then something came up and now are back at it, only a couple episodes left. I love how Billys character just negotiates billion dollar deals in seconds with pretty much no prep work. This last season is a nice reminder of how things are in RL, but people just prefer not to accept it.
  3. Not a big sports betting guy...too many variables IMO. I have placed a random wager here and there over the last couple years, but nothing more than a few bucks. I will sometimes pull a one armed bandit, but for the most part my bag is poker...it is more about the opponent with some skill laid in. I am not great at it...some may even call me bad because sometimes I drink too much when I play which is a downward spiral, but I still enjoy the heck out of it for the most part. Heading to Vegas for a work conference in a few months and plan to spend a good amount of time in Bellagios poker room and maybe even a couple random ones. It is not as enjoyable for me now as it was 20 years ago, but still a fun thing to do.
  4. Wife just got her first guvment job doing physicals for new recruits, talked to a bunch of the people there...they all love it...super cush/easy job. Lots of them came out of retirement to do it because it is so easy and the pay is great. Just a once a week type job for her now, but she may expand that depending.
  5. Almost a year later,.....but I know when my brother was a live he would buy the scratch offs as gifts sometimes because he was poor af, so he would get maybe 6.00 worth for each person...I think he would have been embarrassed to just give 6.00...just my experience with it.
  6. Competitive baseball will be a nice distraction this summer...hopefully we get plenty of it.
  7. We utilize the library with the kids quite a bit, but the film negative option is something I have not seen. I may have to head to a couple to find one. I have been meaning to digitize those old negatives for over 10 years, but never pulled the trigger on the machine to buy.
  8. Yeah I get it. Just such a rarity for me to not have the kids, be at work or have something else planned. Usually I stake out a movie I know I will like well in advance and plan for a day at the movies, but this was just to kill a few hours which is extremely rare for me. Good shows have spoiled me I guess. I know this is not a movie and I am about 15 years too late, but we started Justified about 10 years ago, got about half way through, had kids then forgot about it. Went back and re watched the whole thing from start to finish the past year or so, I enjoyed it. Not sure why everyone always talked about the ending as if it were amazing...it was good and not bad for sure...I guess the build up killed it for me.
  9. On the thiiird book about halfway through it...it is not getting stale...yet.
  10. I have maybe 40-50 sets, most incomplete from when you just bought the .25 pack and kept a hand written list of the ones you needed and scratched off after you got them. I think the oldest sets I have are from the late 70's, most are the late 80's early 90's sets. I went through them a few months ago to see if there were any goodies in there...I have just about every main producers Barry rookie cards, even got one of them signed at open work out at Pontiac Silverdome back in 90 or 91. Not just baseball, but most are, basketball, football, hockey. I have quite a few that could be worth a little bit, but on the whole not much more than a couple grand probably...those things are just nostalgia bombs...every time I need a pick me up I take them out and just smell them or look through them. One of these days I may display some of them....most are in 3 ring binders with the sheets....the rest just in random old shoe boxes.
  11. Going to the movies is one of my favorite things to do....had a few hours to kill in the middle of the day on a weekday and there was not much playing so tried Bee Keeper...I have never really seent a Jason Statham movie...and now I know why...leaving the theater after about 20 minutes was a hard thing to do and only the 2nd time in my life I left a movie before it was over. I expected too much out of professional writers making a multi million dollar movie...maybe the action was great...there was not much before I took off, but I could not get past the dialogue.
  12. About a quarter through the 2nd book Boundary Waters...I liked the first one well enough to keep it going. So far this second one is pretty good also.
  13. 2 Points: 1. As far as the NFL rigging games...I do not think it has to be some huge conspiracy like people think. I have this vision in my head of Deniro from Casino or something just kinda giving a nod to the head official or something...not to say "fix the game against THAT team", but to say "team x has been doing a lot of <insert whatever foul you want> the past month or so....lets call those in this game tight" while not saying the first part out loud....it is not hard at all to imagine them favoring certain teams for whatever reasons they have (money...it ALL comes down to money...in whatever form you want to proclaim it, ie direct contributions from billionaire owners, back door deals, gambling, tv revenue...whatever) the officials have even come out after games saying they have been told to focus on certain things every year....7-8 years ago or whatever it was...it was the process of a catch...other years it has been false starts or delay of games...if you watch enough games you will see it. Called like crazy over the course of a year and the next year....crickets. This is league wide, but this year....false starts could have been called on about 90% of the plays snapped this year and were almost never called...not just Lions games...all of them. 2. As far as the outcome of this game....SF is a better team overall on paper from what all the experts are telling me...they are obviously a very good team...I think we are close enough in talent to beat them and could make a case we are a better team than them in parts of the game I personally think are key to winning games. Lines, RB's and QB. Lions D line v SF O line: This is pretty equal IMO....really close. Lions O line v SF D Line: Also very close, we are talking top 4-5 in the league for each of us. RB's: McCaffrey is obviously the #1 here, but Gibbs is not far behind and that is not even taking Montgomery into account. While they have the better overall player....the 2 headed beast we have crushes their #1 guy IMO. QB's: Goff is better than Purdy...full stop. Now I did not mention secondary, special teams, kickers etc because IMO the 3 above, especially the line play, is what usually dictates winners and losers in the NFL...again just my opinion. If I had to put money one key factor that will determine the outcome of this game outside of the obvious TO battle it would be our O line v their D line...whoever wins that battle will win the game.
  14. Just a pit stop. Thanks. I missed some of the people on here and decided to see what was going on. Also thanks again for the book recommendation. When I went back and read through this thread again I realized I never tried that Cork series. Just started it a few days ago and so far so good.
  15. Count is one of the books I keep rereading. About 6-7 times on that one. Always pick up new stuff everytime.
  16. Been waiting a long time for a game like this. The last 2, feel like I have been in a dream TBH.
  17. Does something like that make you feel better? That it was "despicables" that died at a higher rate? Not sure the point of it all.
  18. I knew that would come back up and all the reason for your total lack of reading comprehension when I already make disclaimers. I never called anyone names. I am not looking down on anyone. I am considering what I would do in that situation while also realizing there is a small % of people who cannot leave. But your moral superiority is noted. You are a much better person than me, I guess.
  19. If the Walmart parking lot is 300 miles away from the shore then I would take that over a hurricane 2 miles away, even with a car packed with kids. And I also already conceded that if they did not have a car and there was not a state run program they could call, then it is understandable. Also I do not know that for a fact. Do you know for a fact it is not something that is offered? Because I am pretty sure you do not need a computer or a smart phone to get help. I would assume there are places to call if you live in an evacuation zone to get assistance. A good ol fashioned rotary phone will work if you still have your wits....and if you do not...then again I concede that point. And when was it ever cheap to live by the ocean? And for the hard of hearing...some people may have legit reasons for not being able to leave...some. Can I be sensitive to those who had nowhere to go and at the same time realize the majority of people who do not leave are just lazy...and not care as much about those people as I do those who legit had a reason they could not leave? I am pretty sure both can be true.
  20. I hear the "sometimes people can't leave" thing and wonder why? If you do not own a car and the state was not offering rides/shelter of some kind (which I am not sure if they do or would, but I assume they offer it) I get it. But if you own a car, pack it up with what you will need for a few days, drive far enough away...even park in a Walmart parking lot or something and sleep in the car for a few days and come back. Does the state not offer some kind of ride for those who do not have one and a shelter of some kind? All of that is better than dying or waiting for other people to rescue you. I imagine there is a small minority who have no family, have no vehicle are infirm to begin with. I am not talking about those people, but again...even then I would assume you could call Red Cross or someone and they would get you out while it was safe to do so for them.
  21. It just multiplies your winnings based on long odds. You make multiple bets and they all have win for you to win. Even "good odds" bets are tough to get right with so many in a row. You can do any combination of parlays...ex Lions to win, Jets to cover, Goff throwing over 300 yards, Swift running for under 100 etc etc.
  22. When my wifes mother was alive, she was not good about making mortgage payments. My wifes name was on the mortgage and it was affecting our abilities with credit so I started paying the mortgage for her, did this about 3-4 years then we went through the process to have the mortgage assumed, but was not approved for it. It was basically taking my wifes name off and putting it in the mother in laws name only. I am guessing this is the same thing?
  23. Glad I was wrong. The first quarter was one of the better halves I have seent them play in a long time.
  24. Speaking of roads....before I even knew the history behind 375, I thought it was a stupid place to put a freeway. Completely cuts the city off...all that area behind Ford Field and CoPa was a HUGE waste before.....now when it is finally razed it should open up a whole new area for Detroit to expand. So not a peeve, but kind of an anti peeve...I love that they are finally getting it right....or trying to anyway.
