if she can keep people's interest in the league, revenue and salaries will increase. right now its a money loser and has been propped up by nba revenues for decades. but networks obviously see women's sports as a growth area. espn is pumping major airtime and webspace into it. the investment - in sports league terms - is very low and the potential returns are high. if they want to televise mens pro sports the rights very very expensive.

i brought a family of four. once you get drinks, snacks, and merch it cost a lot of money.

i took the familly to a game two years ago and was amazed at how expensive it was. but all hockey games are like that. hawks tickets face value are ridiculously expensive.

JEIII with the "big changes are coming" headline. then drops the big news that the pistons might hire a president of basketball operations! and that everyone is likely to return next year. lol. tom gores is a buffoon. who could it be? what flashy, big name person who has either never been in charge or hasnt been in charge for such a long time that theyre out of the loop on modern nba basketball? have to go with a big name that gets attention. lets see... Mark Jackson? rick pitino? jeff vangundy? charles barkley? ISIAH THOMAS? phil jackson? does arn tellum have a cousin we dont know about? the article rehashes some of gores' inane comments from his mid season interview which just sound more vapid knowing what happened the rest of the season. this franchise is so ****ed.

do we really think this team would be that much better with ollie as head coach? maybe a little bit because monty has been so atrocious, but probably not a lot. then again, its really hard to be this bad. not even **** vitale was this bad.

wallace was one of the best players in the league when he out his mind to it. he was just lazy and addicted to pot. ras has shown maybe two weeks worth of games where he is a difference maker. reminds me more of james wiseman. a guy with ideal size and immense talent who just cant put it together. actually that's harsh. ras is at least a contributor. wiseman is one of the worst players in the league.

otoh, do you want to be the wings or the islanders? the islanders traded for very good but not elite players and are capped out with a few of them and nothing in their system. they hired a "torts" type coach who will yell and scream and get immediate results and soon flame out. they "went for it" and will likely end up in the 8th seed and beat soundly in round 1. is that what we want? did we want to deal #1 picks and solid prospects for bo horvath? or do we want sandin-pelikka and danielson? to me that was the choice because the wings did not have anything of substance in the farm system pre-yzerman other than hronek, who got them ASP.

i know nobody wants to hear excuses and patience, but the timeline is really the next two years when the new draft picks should reach the big leagues. if there is one criticism of yzerman, its the inability to turn the cap space they had into a difference making player and/or massive amounts of draft capital. instead, they spent on "steady" vets like copp, compher, perron, and chairot. i understand the reasoning of trying to be competitive. you dont want to be the pistons and have nothing but young players and no vets to provide substance and leadership. otoh, if you spend all your money on average players you get average results. and that's exactly what weve seen from them.
