  1. i will be there tonight to witness the carnage.
  2. given all the top ten picks on their team, im not sure why buffalo isnt a much better team.
  3. bertuzzi, zadina, and a second round pick! lol. i dont think there's a match because the rangers wont give him up cheap and the wings wont give up a first rounder for him. a healthy bertuzzi would really help them, though.
  4. https://cwbchicago.com/2022/12/arrest-warrant-issued-after-former-chicago-bulls-star-ben-gordon-fails-to-appear-in-court-to-face-battery-allegations.html ben gordon is in trouble again.
  5. the lions defense is also atrocious. they dont have the offense consistently enough to make up for it. another solid draft, a free agent or two, and you might have a team to challenge for the division if/when rodgers leaves. right now they arent there.
  6. bertuzzi and edvinsson?
  7. sure, but the raiders would never make that deal.
  8. i dont think detroit is close to being a serious contender. theyre in the muddy middle right now, and theyre close to being near the top of the muddy middle, but they are far away from buffalo or the chiefs or even philly.
  9. what would you trade for lafreniere?
  10. i still think its much more likely they finish 7th in the division. however, they havent been healthy yet and have been missing a bunch of their best players in bert and vrana. maybe those guys can help them score 5 v 5, which is where they need the most help.
  11. i wonder if bertuzzi would take a one year deal? try to get his value back up and get a longer term deal next time? i cant imagine him fetching much in the trade market after being hurt all year.
  12. no one else has options. to get fabbri, bert, and vrana you need to send 3 down. soderblom and berggren are the obvious ones. suter is the other one unless you want to send down veleno too. or waive erne.
  13. both will go when bertuzzi gets back.
  14. i can see the need for a running back, but i hope they dont take robinson that high. they really really really need talent in the secondary.
  15. of course watching a team with zach lavine and demar derozen on it might be warping my view of the rest of the nba. two of the biggest ball hogs in the league, especially lavine.
  16. watching other teams play (mostly the bulls), tells me the pistons are not the only team that doesnt "play as a team." teams without strong point guards seem to just be collections of one on one artists. each time down the floor is another exercise in one on five. maybe someone sets a pick at the three point line and rolls to the basket or flares out wide. if that doesnt work, its one on one time. as much stick as i give cade for being too passive until the 4th quarter, he does try to move the ball and get his teammates involved. he's playing point forward. seems very mature for his basketball age.
  17. i doubt he goes into politics. half the state hates his guts already, that's not a solid base to get votes. this is not herschel walker, a guy who was beloved in georgia before this election. i think he'd be the lions head coach long before he ever ran for public office. and i dont think he'll end up being the lions head coach.
  18. i dont think they view the tight end position that highly and i suspect they will not take one high in the draft. maybe in the later rounds for depth purposes. they seem more focused on using tight ends as blockers than receivers. those guys are much easier to find.
  19. this is america, they're going to get sued no matter what. the public has already bought the whole cte thing and now believes any bump on the head is a life altering brain injury. they're going to end up giving the union a billion dollars for a fund to deal with brain injury issues and let them deal with it. (and the union will proceed to mismanage the money and get sued by players and the litigation carousel will continue. because if it is one thing we know for sure its that lawyers will get paid.)
  20. if they league tells him he cant play, he'll sue to force them to allow him to play and find a doctor who says he's fine. if the league lets him play, in 20 years he'll find a doctor who says he is brain damaged and the league never should have let him play. and in the meantime the players union will fight it and demand he be allowed to play if a doctor clears him (which their doctor will). might as well let him play and kick the litigation can down the road... besides, i dont think the league wants to be in the business of saying a player with "x" isnt allowed to play and then preventing him from playing. it opens the door to too many other potential issues.
  21. what would be the precedent for a league forcing a player to quit? its his body, he can do what he wants. if its an issue, the doctors can tell him he is unfit to play. how many concussions do you think steve young or troy aikman had? they continued to play. i dont think the league can or should tell a player he is unfit to play. also, you can always pay a doctor to give you the diagnosis you want. years of litigation have shown me that. doctors are whores.
  22. if michigan wins the national championship, what are the odds harbaugh leaves for the nfl?
  23. if erod is healthy how many games do they win? 70? there are so many ways to respond to that question. the most obvious being that al avila should not have been allowed to make those free agent decisions because he was bad at his job. but that's more of a theoretical complaint, back in reality land, this is merely an admonition that papering over the cracks in a bad team by throwing money at slightly above average or average 30 year olds is not the best way to win at baseball. it never has been. and those 30 year olds are often about to become bad players. the tigers' problems are systemic in their player acquisition and development scheme, until they fix that, not even steve cohen would save them. well....maybe cohen would...
  24. https://www.espn.com/mlb/insider/story/_/id/35292245/ranking-all-30-mlb-teams-biggest-free-agents-signed tl;dr were 26th! projected 66 wins. all that free agent money spent last year really paid off. not sure why they didnt do it again...
  25. why were you happy when al avila was fired? you obviously think he assembled a very talented team.
