nobody is trading for him without a contract in place. you also arent the only team bidding for him.

i trust the current administration's judgment on swedish league prospects. as to your "fun fact," i agree. as i obnoxiously pointed out earlier, teams arent going to want our bad players. they wont be enticed because you throw MORE of them into the deal.
-
the product will suck, but people will still watch because they have an affinity to watch sports where their favorite college is playing.

as we all know, richardson is a pure upside play and a gamble. but goff isnt going to be here forever, is coming off a good season but has been up and down in the past, and the lions do need to think about qb in the future. i'd be excited if they felt good enough about richardson to draft him. id also understand if they passed given his college passing performance. but when i hear that they sent multiple scouts - including holmes himself - to multiple florida games, i think there's a real chance they are considering drafting him (or levis if he falls).
-
psssst....richardson at 6....you wont have a shot at him at 18. /ducks

if your core is seider/raymond/kasper and potentially wallinder/edvinsson/hanas, do you WANT to deal for horvat and sign larkin? the thing i fear is that the wings end up in the mushy middle and never have enough top players to compete for titles. that's my bigger fear in trading for horvat. i - like everyone else - dont want to give up the possibility that those prospects turn into our tampa bay-like foundation for a 27 year old who we will be paying big money after his peak. i guess that's why stevie gets paid the big bucks.

college basketball is boring right now. imo, its been boring for a while. but it still has the ncaa tournament that people enjoy. the ratings for games on the major networks are still pretty solid. i'll be interested to see what the elimination of one and done, combined with the expansion of the g league/nba minor leagues will do to the product.

gattis has always been super ethical. he had to leave michigan and now miami because he would not stand for their shenanigans.
-
josh gattis fired in miami after one season. michigan, otoh, had a better offense this year without him.
-
i have no problem trading rasmussen.
-
you have a valuable asset? here, take all of our middling role players! that should do it.
-
the lions sent people to five of richardson's games this year. they are very interested.
-
i love mock draft season. its every lions fan's favorite time of year.
-
the best news for the lions would be that half the league thinks young is too small but someone at carolina loves him so much to trade up to 6 to get him after levis, stroud, and richardson go in the top 5.
-
i would be surprised if porter, witherspoon, or gonzalez are there at 18. ive sort of changed my mind on bryce young. i think he's too small and is going to get beat up and injured too easily in the pros. i'd rather have stroud if they want a qb or richardson if they want a mutant hybrid, anti-buckeye bias notwithstanding.

football outsiders: https://www.footballoutsiders.com/walkthrough/2023/bill-obrien-patriots-aaron-rodgers-jets DVOA tells us that the Lions were the best team to not make the playoffs this year, and most readers would probably agree; even Jets fans must admit that their team came unglued while the Lions were peaking by season's end. The Lions were better than the Seahawks, Jaguars, Buccaneers, and Chargers. That feels right. Switch the Jaguars' and Lions' divisions, for example, and the Lions cruise to the playoffs, probably with a better record than the Jaguars.

reich hired in carolina.

nobody plays defense.

houston is 11-37

no way im giving up that much for jalen ramsey. i dont think you'll need to, not with that big salary coming your way.
-
i'd prefer porter because he actually likes to tackle and be physical. but i wouldnt be too upset if they got gonzalez. just as long as they get a corner somewhere. i'd really rather have witherspoon.
-
i would not deal this year's first or kasper. i would trade cossa in a heartbeat. this was another game to remind us that the wings need nhl offensive talent desperately. all of their top picks from the pre yzerman days are slotted in at 3rd line players and pluggers. nice guys, nice role players, but not what you ultimately hope for from first round picks or top prospects
-
kasper wont be with the wings next year. he might be in two years, maybe 50/50 shot. and he will likely start on the wing or be gradually brought in. bertuzzi is done. he cant stay healthy. if he wants a one year "prove it" deal, then maybe he comes back. if someone wants to roll the dice on him, let them take the risk. he hasnt been good when he's played this year. i'd be real surprised if they got anything more than a second rounder this year. shocked, even. lets remember, they hit rock bottom only three years ago. its going to take a while to get back to anything without any lottery luck or draft magic.

you dont know what will be available in the summer. you do know horvat is available now. if all it really cost were hronek, zadina, and a prospect, and you knew you could get him for around $9 mil, then why not? you now have #1 and #2 centers locked in (assuming you sign larkin) and you keep your prospects. you lose hronek but defense is the one position you have a lot of prospects. kasper starts on the wing or at 3C. the wings are desperate for talent up the middle and desperate for scoring. horvat gives them both. as with anything, it depends on the price.

who else are you going to reasonably get?
