  1. that's a steal for walman. he and seider have been immense. caveat: you saw walman really struggle last night with a physical forechecking team that took his outlet pass to seider away and went right at him. he'll need to get tougher and quicker.
  2. hopefully between this game and the ridiculous amounts of assets teams are giving up for players, yzerman can fleece someone on bertuzzi. this game really showed me how far away they are. that said, tonight is a different night. hopefully they get refs who call an even game and penalize ottawa for some of their rough house tactics. im all for physical play, but when the wings are getting charging calls for the same things that ottawa is getting away with, and larkin gets a roughing call for having his glove touch a guy's face while debrincat is able to punch seider in the face with no call, it just isnt fair. they did their usual ref thing by evening out the calls after the game was already decided, but that was some of the biggest home cooking ive seen in a non-playoff game in a long time. i was disappointed lalonde didnt say something. you never want to use the refs as an excuse, but you also want to protect your team and have some gamesmanship setting them up for the next night so it doesnt happen again.
  3. its a great city to visit. and to eat in! (just dont get car jacked...) mayoral election is today! fun times.
  4. i couldnt do that anywhere other than a cheap bar. yesterday i went to lunch with a friend, we both got salads with chicken (she got salmon cause she's fancy) and a diet coke, the total bill after tip was $65. went to a bar the week before and paid about the same for a reuben and a coke. $30 after tip. maybe i tip too much? lol. just a cheap garbage take out salad in the loop costs $15. dinner is going to run you between $25-35 for an average entree. $10-15 for a salad or appetizer. $10-15 for a glass of wine or $35-50 for a cheap bottle. $10-15 for a cocktail. $5-7 for a coke. $10-15 for dessert. that's like $60-80 per person right there. and that is not in the fanciest places in the city. if we go out to a super nice restaurant without the kids, it will be at least $100 per person. usually more. chicago is the greatest food city in america, but its expensive.
  5. i always avoid river north. we live up in ravenswood/lincoln square/albany park and rarely venture out into other areas for food. we have all we need here. but it aint cheap.
  6. for a family of four? not around here. not after tip and if you and the wife want a drink.
  7. a "couple"? not around here. any decent sized decent pizza will cost you $25. i mean, if you want cheese on cardboard there's always little ceasars.
  8. how much to park and eat too? its pricey out there for a family of four. we cant go out to eat at a decent place for less than $150 unless its fast food.
  9. edmonton? shee-iiiiit. they went into toronto, chicago, and st louis and got their asses kicked. edmonton outskilled them to death. the most notorious and obvious example was new jersey in the cup finals. that's when they went out and got shanahan and changed their team.
  10. this should be a real wake up call to them about how this team would play in the playoffs. they need to get bigger and stronger. for all his flaws, that's why he signed a guy like chairot.
  11. we'll see how they do tomorrow, but they were physically dominated tonight. the other team checked harder, and physically beat the shit out of them. and they failed to respond. they have a small team with a bunch of guys who float to the boards and dont play physical. suter , kubalik, berggren, zadina, and yes, raymond. theyre soft as fuck. the refs screwed them, but the sens kicked their ass anyway.
  12. you people will bitch about anything.
  13. chicago will trade back 100%.
  14. what a great pickup by weaver. he really helped this year and we were able to flip him for assets. really smart asset management. just like with kemba walker.
  15. ok, but youre proving my point. bringing up those guys isnt going to help the wings getting pushed around now. and it wouldng help tonight because the refs let the senators get away with whatever they wanted and they penalized the wings for every ticky tack holding call they found. i havent seen such an egregiously badly officiated game in a long time.
  16. if you think simon edvinsson is going to be a physical presence at this point...or soderblom....it tells me you havent seen them play.
  17. they really miss a big guy like ras in this game. another ticky tack call on the wings.
  18. not good enough to make up for the refs. senators are taking runs at them all night with no calls. detroit getting 5 ticky tack calls. theyre not good enough to make up for the home cooking.
  19. what a bullshit game. this has been all refs. 100% fucked by the refs tonight.
  20. the hawks now have 17 picks in the first three rounds of the next three drafts.
  21. would wentz be a backup qb option? probably not given his history of nobody liking him.
  22. the browns were two yards away and 93 yards with 3 minutes away from a super bowl in the 80s. the lions have never ever been as close to a super bowl as the cleveland browns. trying to argue the lions arent the worst franchise in nfl history is a very tough argument to make.
  23. mcshay doesnt make that stuff up. somebody told him. now, the somebody who TOLD him may have made it up, but probably not mcshay.
  24. with what tampa just paid for jeannot, i hope the red wings dont buy. bertuzzi could go for a ton in this market.
  25. you think baseball tickets are expensive? try buying football or hockey ticket.
