i hope we get another "miggys in the best shape of his career" article from mccoskey next year. -
through two games, i'd say zadina, kubalik, berggren, and soderblum have been impressive. the young defensemen really havent. mcissac, johannson, and edvinsson.
-
edvinsson has also taken multiple penalties. if he makes the team its because he passes the puck well or they want him here to be around pros. i havent seen anything that makes me think he's nhl ready. not yet. still plenty of time.
-
i havent been impressed with edvinsson. kocharski for the hawks has been much more impressive. faster and more active offensively. edvinsson has turned it over a ton.

how old is too old for tommy john surgery? -
if youre an nhl fan, you really should have espn+. its great for the nhl (and soccer). as someone who used to wake up at 530 am and trudge to the bar to watch united play, its great that you can see almost every soccer game now. the downside is that theyre all on different streaming services. paramount + for italy, argentina, brazil, and the champions league/europa league peacock for english premier league espn+ for spain, dutch, german, belgian, english championship unfortunately for me, my french league is captured by BeIn sports and that's the one im not paying for (stupid qataris). at least with the others my wife watches shows on those two which makes it easier to pay for. except espn+ which is almost a must as a sports fan now. btw, if you have a hulu subscription you can watch espn+ on it.

geno smith has been better than russell wilson so far...lol at denver.

yup. welcome to the nhl, rookie.

elmer getting an early promotion! he didnt look out of place against pittsburgh, just a little slow. btw, i wouldnt take a ton away from that pitt game. the penguins had the puck for a lot of the game but just couldnt find the net. the wings played a lot of smash and grab hockey and, for a lot of the game, had a lot of trouble simply exiting their own zone, not to mention getting into pitt's zone and maintaining possession. the pens had 9 power plays! tonights game should be different with the hawks sending the b team. although part of me thinks the b teams have a decent shot because they'll be trying to impress and trying hard while the a teams dont care because its a preseason game. something to think about. looking forward to edvinsson tonight. i want to see less casual puck play and less turnovers. more of a sense of urgency. i would also like to see him man the point on the power play. similarly, lets see if soderblum can be a top pp holmstrom type? id like to see more of soderblum on the pk too. i know he doesnt skate the best, but he has such a long reach and really good hands, he could pose some issues if he's up top using his length.

Week Three: Detroit Lions (1-1) @ Minnesota Vikings (1-1)
buddha replied to MichiganCardinal's topic in Detroit Lions
the game makes me sad that we lost, but i also think we're overreatcing just a bit. we lost a close game on the road where we were a td underdog. the vikings are not a bad team and the lions hung with them and should have won. and it wasnt a game they were behind all day and made a late push to make it close either, they were the better team for much of the day. that's progress. otoh, it should the warts on the team. they still dont have a significant pass rush other than bringing blitzes. the linebackers are still poor. they struggled to stop the run at times. they lost yet another important player to a season ending injury. the team is still young and growing. there are lots of teams that lost heartbreakers the last couple weeks, not just the lions. next week is pretty important. -

this game still makes me sad. -
cossa immediately gives up a goal on a nice play by rust. berggren was really good in that period. set up soderblum for an open net. got the puck into the zone and maintained possession for the 4th goal.
-
they got dominated, but that's to be expected considering who is on the wings and who pittsburgh is playing. zadina with some nice work to get the puck and was one on one with jarry and...shot it right him. kubalik with a bomb for the wings goal and he looks like their best player. lots of speed. soderblum is so freaking tall but is having a hard time keeping up. fell down once but still was able to get the puck to the net. not bad for a first period.

killian's shot - and lack of aggressiveness - looked the same in summer league.

the battle for the bottom of the central continues! a titanic struggle between the resistsble force and the moveable object. america will once again turn her eyes to the midwest to view this amazing spectacle of incompetence, heights reached only in recent pittsburgh-cincinnati battles. -

they were doubling jefferson a lot. just like philly. no offense to okudah, he played well (for what we can see on the tv) but they went away from him because osborne and thielen had single coverage. -

i'm much more worried about the injuries than i am about a last second loss to the vikings on the road. next week is the real test. they should win that game. and last year the seahawks bitch slapped them. are they a different team? lets see. -
devin does a good job of that.
