  1. like you said, the division being bad is the argument for the lions winning it. they could win 8 games and win the division next year if rodgers leaves.
  2. well, we can argue about the value of listening to nietzsche if you want to go down that road...
  3. they've known for a long time who they are going to nominate for the court. they've probably discussed it with breyer already too. the fbi is surely doing background checks as we speak to confirm the results of the background checks the democrats conducted before they anonymously released their list of names of potential candidates to the press.
  4. after the last one, its not to have a bad feeling about every wings game. i dont see the wings dropping below 8th in the overall draft standings, which would give them a 5% chance at #1, as opposed to a 3% chance now. sigh.
  5. its not an issue to me. its just partisan politics, imo. biden made it a point in his campaigning to add more minority justices to the bench and he has done that in a very big way. trump had a list of "federalist society approved" justices when he was elected and the democrats went after them for it. yadda yadda yadda, rinse repeat.
  6. or clarence thomas. they were intent on nominating a black man to replace marshall. or acb. they were going to nominate a woman to replace ginsburg.
  7. plenty of black female candidates are just as qualified as anyone else. i dont have a problem with biden choosing one for the court.
  8. how is that decision not up to the packers?
  9. biden is underwater in approval/disapproval ratings. he's very underwater with non-college voters. i think people see covid and inflation and equate those concerns with biden. if covid dissipates this summer and inflation starts to go down, we should see his numbers go up. if not, look out below democrats.
  10. i cant believe the packers would be crazy enough to let rodgers go and roll with jordan love. we all saw love play this year and he was awful. rodgers is still one of the best qbs in the league despite flaming out against the niners. if they let rodgers go they are committing to a real rebuild.
  11. oh yeah definitely. i was picking and choosing neighborhoods where you and i live as well as magnet high schools that are by application only. those draw from all over the city. to go further into what you said, lakeview is 77% white, lincoln park is 78% white. our old friend bucktown is now 73% white. conversely, garfield park is 91% black, austin is 84% black, and south shore is 93% black. with almost 0 white population. little village is 84% hispanic, pilsen is still 70% hispanic but whitey has turned east pilsen into coffee shop land and its now 20% gringo. all in all, pretty segregated. and pretty segregated in a specific fashion with black neighborhoods being very segregated. hispanic neighborhoods are gentrfying and white neighborhoods are getting sizeable hispanic populations, but poor black neighborhoods remain extremely segregated (although bronzeville is getting a little more diverse now as white folks move in) and the nicer whiter neighborhoods are still largely devoid of any black people.
  12. easier to just kick her off the ticket. she's not supreme court justice material. there are plenty of other black women who are smarter and better choices.
  13. my daughters' school is 43% white, 33% hispanic, 10% black, and 4% asian. that's pretty integrated. northside prep is the best high school in the state, its 31% white, 30% hispanic, 20% asian, and 10% black. that's pretty integrated too. walter payton (the second best high school in the state...yes, its named after a football player where do you think you live?) is 44% white, 21% hispanic, 20% asian, and 10% black. i live right on the border of albany park and lincoln square. albany park is 45% hispanic, 32% white, 15% asian and 5% black. pretty integrated. lincoln square (much wealthier) is 65% white, 18% hispanic, 9% asian, and 3% black. not so much. humboldt park is 49% hispanic, 23% white, 23% black, and 1% asian. englewood, by contrast, is 94% black and 4% hispanic. the city as a whole is 33% white, 29% black, 28% hispanic, and 6% asian. with the black population shrinking dramatically and the asian population growing quickly. a few pockets of "diverse" neighborhoods here and there, but you can still divide the city into thirds with blacks to the south, whites to the north, and hispanics to the west. its not universal by any means, but that general split still applies.
  14. the ukraine would get crushed by russia. its a big open field. there would be little resistance as half the country is pro-russia, which happens to be the part of the part of the country next to russia. most likely would be a split government initially that russia would use as a satellite state. and no country on earth has won more recorded battles than the french...1940 aside (which they also could have won with better leadership...).
  15. thurgood marshall was a woman? well i'll be damned... until ronald reagan chose sandra day o'connor, each supreme court pick was a man.
  16. i know it wont happen, i just think it would be valuable. its too contentious a topic to really be discussed in public schools outside of being touched upon in history classes where it can be viewed as dispassionately as possible. and like you said, we're a secular society now outside of utah and the deep south. this board is probably as good an example as any of how northern middle class white people feel about religion, and its usually only addressed here to mock those who believe it and call them stupid. edit: white christians and christianity are mocked. other religions and non-white religious people are not.
  17. raymond, larkin, seider, bertuzzi, ned (sometimes). is there really anyone else worth a damn? fabbri on occasion. everyone else is a third line player or bottom six defenseman at best. ahl player at worst. again, getting nothing from three years of drafting prior to yzerman coming on board (including two top ten picks) is killing this team.
  18. as a catholic school graduate, i thought the theology courses we took were the most interesting ones i ever took. the bible is full of cool stories. kids study "world history" in high school, they can study world religion too. the two really hand in hand. the idea of god and religion has been one of the driving forces in humanity for its entire existence. its kinda important to know about.
  19. i remember how they cut away from regular programming to show sosa and mcgwire at bats. baseball hasnt had that kind of juice (ha!) in years. the only other time i remember was when ripken broke gehrig's record, but espn ruined it by having chris berman there crying. anyway, sosa/mcgwire was a big deal and did a lot for baseball.
  20. kamala harris on the supreme court would be....something other than kick ass. the democrats want to dump her that bad? lol. it'll be jackson. breyer clerk, black woman, liberal. check check check.
  21. he was at ND. got a lot of top defensive tackles. there's a 5* commit there right now who he should be calling...
  22. right, but we've taken the establishment clause to mean you cant put up a cross as a grave marker, or celebrate xmas without having an equal sized display for diwali. i think that is a misreading of the first amendment. i also think religion should be taught in all public schools. a section on world religions would be good for students to learn about
  23. cause bertuzzi is their best player.
