  1. 80% of denmark is fully vaccinated and cases are increasing. "cases" will continue to happen because its an infectious disease. of those cases in denmark, 99.8% of them are mild. the point being, just counting "cases" isnt a great measure anymore, imo. continue to work to vaccinate and remediate and continue to lower the risk of the virus to people who do get it. the fact that "cases" are increasing isnt a reason for real alarm, imo.
  2. so what do you do now? cases are up everywhere, including countries with high vaccine rates. its not a matter of complacency, or something we can control, its a viral infection that is just going to play itself out until it burns out. get as many people vaccinated so they dont get too sick when they get it, keep developing mitigation drugs for people who do get it, and get on with our lives. i dont see what else we should do.
  3. i dont have a real issue with what kane or toews said. i am interested in how their agents allowed them to talk without vetting what they would say, especially in the social media environment. regardless of how they feel personally for stan bowman, you issue a generic statement condemning what happened and saying how you feel bad for beach. you dont open them up to questions from "journalists" who are looking for click baity headlines to stoke the moral outrage machine.
  4. brian ellerbe was fired after he went 10-18 what are you talking about?
  5. what was toews supposed to do? i dont understand?
  6. who? the kid who just committed to ucla?
  7. michigan has good talent. they have as much talent as any school not named alabama, georgia, lsu, ohio state, and clemson. they're in the next tier and should be able to compete with any team this year other than ohio state, georgia, and probably bama. anyone else they can beat. that said, they can lose on the road to any decent team, which includes state or penn state. its college football and winning road games is hard, ask bama who lost to a & m and ohio state who lost at home to oregon! it happens.
  8. michigan firing a coach that went 10-2 would be the most ridiculous thing they've ever done.
  9. the lions do get lucky, just like other teams. but when other teams get lucky they get 13 wins and go to the super bowl. the lions go 9-7 and lose in the wild card game.
  10. dude, really. wtf is wrong with you? getting past you attacking me for no fucking reason, nothing you posted refutes anything i said. there has been ONE qb drafted outside of round one in the last five years that has been any good. instead, you quote a bunch of first round picks and go back 15 years to cite a few examples of semi-successful players taken outside round one. yet, strangely enough, you never cite ALL THE PICKS IN THOSE YEARS THAT WERE ABSOLUTE FAILURES. i'm sure you'll be happy with jake rudock and jeff driscoll as lions' qbs moving forward. after all, we took them late in the draft. gtfo.
  11. qbs taken outside round 1: 2015: garrett grayson, sean mannion, bryce petty, brett hundley, trevor simien. 2016: paxton lynch, christian hackenberg, jacoby brissett, cody kessler, connor cook, dak prescott, cardale jones, nate sudfeld, kevin hogan, jake rudock, brandon allen, jeff driscoll, brandon doughty 2017: deshone kizer, davis webb, cj beatherd, josh dobbs, nathan peterman, brad kayaa, chad kelly 2018: mason rudolf, kyle lauletta, mike white, luke faulk, tanner lee, danny etling, alex mcgough, logan woodside. 2019: drew locke, will grier, ryan findley, jarrett stidtham, easton stick, clayton thorston, gardner minshew, trace mcsorley. how many of those guys are good nfl players? 1? 2 if you want to count minshew being ok for a few games in jacksonville? how many have been traded for multiple first round picks? or for anything of value? none. it is not a productive exercise to draft qbs outside of round 1, nor does it usually get you anything back in assets. qbs are extremely valuable. if the lions are going to find the qb of the future, the overwhelming evidence suggests they will need to do it in round 1.
  12. one thing is certain: both of these teams are frauds. michigan is having a nice season and its been fun to watch, but honestly, both of these teams are going to get destroyed by ohio state. msu might have a better chance because ohio state doesnt care about msu. but michigan? ohio state will win that game by 40 points.
  13. i had forgotten about the first for kennard, so youre right about that. i dont think weaver has done a great job, but i think its too early to tell if my feelings are right or not. i dont think he's used the team's assets in the most productive way possible. i also realize its hard to build a basketball team and that not every asset i want to be available is actually available. i'm in a wait and see mode (and really, we need to see cade), but i'm skeptical. let's see what they look like with cade. i suspect the pistons are going to be in line for another top 3 or 4 pick next year too.
  14. and if you take a qb in round 3 and then play him for a year to see if he's any good, and he's not, you have to start all over again and draft another one high in the draft the next year. or give baker mayfield $35 million a year.
  15. everybody remembers lamar jackson, nobody remembers all the qbs who got picked late in round one who failed. everyone remembers wilson and dak but nobody remembers all the guys in round 3 who never panned out and who nobody was ever going to trade you anything for. and those guys are a lot more numerous than dak or russell wilson.
  16. you gave up decent seconds in the luke trade (in order to get rid of an asset) and you got back garbage seconds (and gave up a former first round pick) to take on jordan's contract. i dont see why you think those arent bad deals. and honestly, it seems like you agree with me for the most part.
  17. hey, its jahlil okafor! who is now out of the league, just like i said he would be last year because he sucks.
  18. hell, let's draft 3 qbs next year cause then we might be able to trade them down the road for more picks to take more qbs! the lions have too many holes to do that.
  19. and mantha floating through the game as usual loses hronek on the first goal, allowing him to get behind him and set up erne.
  20. people dont care enough about the lions to do that. come on...
  21. pistons are now the only winless team in the nba.
  22. i just dont think harbaugh is the sharpest knife in the drawer. he's a football coach, not a philosopher king. most of these guys arent geniuses, theyre just former great athletes who can use motivational tools to get kids to play a game hard. harbaugh is bo 2.0 without the talent advantages bo had over 90% of the teams he played. not to take anything away from bo, but his inherent conservatism cost the team at least one national championship, and probably more than that in the big picture. part of that was the overrated nature of the big ten and the cockamamie way they determined a "national champion" in a sport where the best teams never played each other, but it is also a testament to bo being a really good coach. harbaugh is conservative to a fault too. look at the rutgers game. cant make it work? keep pounding away and dont turn the ball over. that's why mcnamera will stay the qb until and unless he starts to make mistakes or mccarthy really forces their hand. which wont come until next year. that's when mccarthy takes over and mcnamera leaves.
  23. i understand the sentiment of getting the lions to enter the exalted "loveable losers" area that the red sox and cubs occupied and profited off for years, but i dont think that will work with an nfl team. it is much less about nostalgia and history than baseball. maybe in another 30 or 40 years? but i dont see it. plus, they team itself will not want to be associated with losing like that. few brands would do that to themselves and their employees, exalting in their failure.
