  1. I had hoped the Tigers org would have drawn from the above uniforms, with some tweaks to update of course, to design their City Connect unis. But alas, …
  2. The Tigers did not get screwed on the challenges. They were both correctly overturned. As far as the strike zone is concerned, the Challenge System can’t come soon enough.
  3. You beat me to it. Mental mistakes aren’t something an average, at best, team can overcome. Riley getting picked at first was ridiculous. credit to Roberts for challenging the two overturned calls.
  4. And there goes Skubal’s W.
  5. I believe I’ve seen the “Restricted” language applied to suspended players that have been busted using PED’s in the past? I think, but don’t know for certain, that the word restricted is code word for, termination of pay. Whether it be for 30 days or permanently, depending.
  6. For the most part I agree. However, organizations do find trading partners to fulfill needs at every level. I imagine most organizations have good players that have no upward mobility due to a more senior player/salary blocking them. Think Baez in Detroit. My preference is to keep Flaherty.
  7. I would be shopping Manning, Tork, and Dingler. Probably off season moves unless one of these guys light a fire out of nowhere. See what return is out there at least. You can move minor leaguers for prospects as well. I’d keep Kelly if he’s interested in staying for the reasons I cited above.
  8. Biden will not be on the ticket in November. Book it.
  9. Additionally, there have been two signings this year that I was really happy to see at the time of the signings, not in hindsight. They were/are Carson and Kelly. They had a history in St. Louis, which Cody covers well in the above link. They’ve both struggled, failed, and learned. They’re not finished products, per se, but they are seasoned and experienced and still at a relatively reasonable age. Kelly is on a one year deal as is Flaherty. Why wouldn’t a team that is trying to be better not try to keep these guys around. I know it’s the money. But flipping players every year isn’t going to move the needle but so far. A rotation of Skubal, Flaherty, Olsen, Mize, and Montero would be solid.
  10. The attached article is a great piece on the Flaherty/Kelly relationship and history written by Stavenhagen. Kelly has caught all but two if Flaherty’s start this year. Personally, I would hate to see Flaherty leave the Tigers. https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5632592/2024/07/12/tigers-jack-flaherty-carson-kelly-success/
  11. July 11 (UPI) -- The Tampa Bay Rays have stopped payment on Wander Franco's $182 million contract after he was placed on MLB's restricted list, sources familiar with the transaction told UPI. Franco faces sex charges in the Dominican Republic. Franco, who was being paid while on administrative leave, was officially placed on the restricted list Wednesday for "failure to report," the source said. The move was not a disciplinary finding. An MLB investigation into Franco remains ongoing and disciplinary action is not expected until his charges are resolved. Players placed on MLB's restricted list are not paid and do not accrue major-league service time.
  12. The Rays have moved Franco to the Restricted list.
  13. I believe C Mo checked all the boxes necessary for that, yes.
  14. Prosecutors in the Dominican Republic formally charged Tampa Bay Rays shortstop Wander Francofor sexual and commercial exploitation of a minor, according to a statement from the country’s Public Ministry. The prosecutors presented the formal accusation against Franco on Tuesday. The spokesperson for the attorney general’s office, Nairobi Viloria, confirmed the charges to multiple outlets.
  15. Surely technology must exist that would allow your home security system and tarp roll-out system to communicate with your phone so you could do this remotely.
  16. Just the way Hinch drew it up.
  17. $24 million down the $hitter.
  18. Just imagine if they were also wearing the Chitty Connect rags tonight in conjunction with the Maeda implosion! Yikes!
  19. Pregame predictions were woefully too conservative.
  20. Montero just turned 24 years of age two days ago. It would be huge if he could be a reliable starter going forward. I’m not expecting anything from Manning from here on out.
  21. This game, like so many others this year, makes one wonder where this team could be if it had a credible offense.
  22. Is this where the choir rises and sings, “We can’t have anything nice?” Skubal is incredible.
  23. But…who’s going to do cross word puzzles with Skubal if Jake leaves?
  24. I’m surprised I haven’t seen Nook Logan’s name here yet. 😁
  25. I was kidding 😉
