    I knew this news could come any day. It still hits hard. When I read the news I couldn’t even tell my wife. When I finally gave it a try I did what I was afraid I would do, I choked up and couldn’t finish my sentence. Jim was a good man with a good heart. RIP Mr. Price.

    With the death of Dave Wills of the Rays radio team before the season started, they were short a guy on the broadcast team. They just recently brought their AA (Montgomery Biscuits) radio guy up to the big league team. I like Gania in Erie and Hasty in West Michigan. I think either of those guys would work well on the radio in Detroit.

    Greg Gania and Dan Hasty are both good on radio. I’d like to have either of those guys up if Dirks doesn’t sign on. Maybin and Scales were both good early on but I’d look elsewhere for a permanent radio guy. Maybin and Scales sound like they’re forcing it often times.

    I almost commented on this last night but decided against it. I understand this team isn’t overly talented. However, the problem you note isn’t out of the norm with this team. Agree, very discouraging at this level.

    The Rays starters have had numerous health issues this year. The Orioles may be too much for them down the stretch.

    I said this before, Petzold should separate himself from associating with this guy. Someone on this board labeled him a ‘blowhard.’ I think that is as an accurate and concise definition of him as you’ll get. Some of his information can be interesting but he’s his own worst enemy through his delivery and overall demeanor. I enjoy Evan’s take on things.

    I totally understand your frustration. For what it’s worth, I wear a Tiger hat just about every time I go out the door. Win or lose, that Old English D never loses its appeal. I may not be able to sit through their garbage production on the field, but I’ll not retire the hat.

    Civale’s first start for the Rays. Thank you for the 1:10 start time. After the Tigers loss last night I listened to the ‘Days of Roar’ podcast with Gorosh and Petzold. If nothing else Gorosh is entertaining.

    I imagine most everyone saw the recent poll ranking MLB TV broadcast teams. Detroit finished dead last.

    As a Tigers fan, there are two events a year that there remains some semblance of optimism in the air, the draft and the trade deadline. Harris ruined one of the two days I can still get excited about. After ERod’s shenanigans last year I was looking forward to him moving on. The organization has a bad look after today.

    Gotta believe this entire deal collapsed this afternoon. Why would Harris stay quiet about it if it fell through days ago? At this point it is a very bad look for him. Had it happened days ago, he’d have had time to go in another direction. So today’s haul is a High A minor leaguer.
