I am expecting a lot of player movement this off-season, but not blockbuster trades or huge free agent signings. With all the disappointing seasons from hitters and all the injured pitchers, they have little to offer and they'll probably want to wait until the young pitchers are ready before they know exactly what direction to take in big free agent signings. I expect the roster will be a lot different next year, just not big names. I think we'll see them get rid of fringe guys like Reyes and the Castros who don't get on base, don't have any real power or give them plus defense and replace them with players with different skill sets. Maybe a low batting average guy who walks and has some power, or a defense first guy who can draw some walks. I think the one place where we might see a semi-big name is the starting rotation. They are going to need some innings and might sign a pitcher to a 2-3 year deal.

Never say Ever.

It won't be at Liston's house. He only throws a party if they are getting a player who makes the MLB roster. He don't want to wait around for five years to see if the guy the might get makes the majors

I can definitely see Rodriguez being good enough next year where he opts out. That could be good or bad depending on what else happens with the team.
-
Willi Castro. Can't draw a walk, can't find a position for him, finally goes to outfield but can't hit enough to be an outfielder.
-
yeah, I am not a fan of Rodriguez. He is on my list of least favorite Tigers - right up there with Juan Gonzalez.

Pudge Rodriguez.

Dombrowski did that before 2004.

Tigers Hire Scott Harris as President of Baseball Operations

There is no good reason to drop Baddoo. He is 24 and still has upside. He can start the season in Toledo, but he belongs on the 40-man roster. -

It sounds like arthritis. I know we have no right to the information, but I don't really know why he doesn't tell us rahter than having people guess what it is. I get accommodation letters for a lot of students including things like student can decide not to attend class and get extensions for assignments any time they want. It's generally easier to deal with when I know what the problem is. I have one student who has a horrible disease which is causing her to become progressively deaf and blind. So, I go out of my way to do everything I can to help her. Another student has some mysterious unknown problem and just go on faith that there is a legit reason why she misses half her classes and submits all her assignments late. There may be good reason why she doesn't reveal it and it's her right, but it's always easier when I know the situation. -
Most of his schtick is tough guy talk with whining mixed in when he gets called out. It's so pathetic.

I am now mostly out of the market and am invested more in short-term treasuries and CD's. I'll check back in a few months. I'll be 60 in two weeks - getting a little old for the buy and hold forever strategy.

They also need to figure out whether the pitching injuries are bad luck or whether they are doing something wrong. -
The rapists, muderers and free loaders are doing pretty well for themselves. Maybe, that is what people really fear. https://www.marketwatch.com/articles/u-s-latinos-gdp-is-the-worlds-fifth-largest-51663871190?mod=mw_latestnews

Did Scott Harris reference OPS+? -
I am fine. I am just insanely busy at work and not posting as much, even not a lot baseball posts. Like many people, my investments are not fine, but I tell myself that I am right back where I was in Spring, 2021 and I wasn't unhappy about my investments then. I did pull some money out of the market and bought some short term treasuries. I might do some more of that very soon before it completely goes to shit. Of course, if I do that, the market is going to surge!

Right, If they don't hit the ball, moving in the fences is just going to help other teams more. -
There really isn't anything to tear down! The only players worth anything are young players who would be part of a re-build.

Other possibilities are improvement by young players and better health.

Two other possibilities is beginning of divisional play in 1969 and the beginning of wildcards in 1995 (followed quickly by interleague play in 1997). The process of turning baseball into a generic sport rather one unique from other sports has been a significant change for me.

The Cardinals seemed to have picked his spots this year which is smart. It's not a strict platoon, but he is crushing LHP: .363/.405/.775. Last year with the Dodgers was similar.
