  1. So what big who posts up and can't shoot does Weaver draft now?
  2. Whose the big lottery prize next year?
  3. The rich get richer. Coach Pop gets Tim Duncan 2.0
  4. This ****ing sucks!!!!!!!!!!!
  5. Did someone say we like our team?
  6. I don't know enough to make an informed decision here and roast Brad Holmes on this one. I do question why he traded so many assets just for Martin, a seemingly unathletic, slow, sub-2 RAS guy. But I have enough trust in Holmes to not go off about this decision. I would have loved to get someone else like a Siaki Ika, but Holmes and his front office staff know a heck of a lot more than I do.
  7. It used to bring me joy to root against Edmonton and laugh at them coming up short. It was more wanting to root against and laugh at Ken Holland. But now, I can't bring myself to root against them or laugh anymore. I'm growing beyond always being against Kenny. It looks like Edmonton, barring a 3rd period comeback, will lose tonight and be eliminated by Vegas. I fell bad for such incredibly talented players like McDavid and Draisaitl languishing in the playoffs year after year. I feel bad for their fans having to watch a team with such amazing top-end talent come up short yet again.
  8. Jahvid Best 2.0. We should probably just cut him now. Bust! SOL.
  9. Bideflation!
  10. I think my biggest fears if I was to try and answer the question of "why wouldn't the Lions be good this season" would hinge on three things, and two of the three reasons are on offense. I don't think any of these scenarios will happen, but if I was to answer the question this would be my best guesses. One, does Jared Goff come back down to Earth? Does he turn into a pumpkin and become the Jared Goff of old? That is, a player who turns the ball over a lot with fumbles and interceptions. A guy who feels rushed in the pocket and makes dumb decisions just to dump the football off and force a turnover. We've seen a season and a half of really good football from Goff. We've watched him mature under Ben Johnson and play like a top 7 QB this past season. I see no reason for him to regress given that his offensive weaponry has seemingly improved and we hung onto Ben Johnson. Two, is Ben Johnson a one hit wonder with nothing new up his sleeve? Do opposing teams and defense have him well scouted and figured out by now? We've seen offensive coaches have a great season one year, only to have their code broken the next. I don't think that is the case with Johnson. We've seen a season and a halves worth of really strong offensive production and imaginative and innovative play calling from Johnson. He's proven that when defense make adjustment he can actually adjust back. He's proven that he can work and make magic with the weapons he's given on any given week. Three, our defense still doesn't take a big enough step forward and is still a liability in one way or another. Maybe we made a mistake by not addressing the front 4 during the offseason. Maybe the Defensive Backs we signed are only band aids at best. Maybe we made a huge mistake not drafting Jalen Carter or Tyree Wilson. Maybe we needed to add a big time DT who can get after the QB or plug the middle against the run in free agency. Maybe CJ Gardner-Johnson was only good based on who he had around him in Philly. Maybe Emmanuel Moseley just isn't that good and/or never fully heals from his injury. I don't really believe any of this at all, but it's just something I put out there if I had to try and plan for the non-injury-related worst with this team. I don't think any of these three scenarios play themselves out and I think we end up a very good team at season's end.
  11. My predictions for the season . . . Wins: Seahawks, Falcons, Packers (Week 4), Panthers, Bucs, Raiders, Chargers, Bears (Week 10), Packers (Week 11), Broncos, Cowboys, Vikings (Week 17) Losses: Chiefs, Ravens, Saints, Bears (Week 14), Vikings (Week 15) NFC North Standings: Lions 12-5 Bears 9-8 Vikings 8-9 Packers 4-13 NFC Conference Championship Game: Eagles 35 vs. Lions 31 AFC Conference Championship Game: Bengals 42 vs. Chiefs 34 Super Bowl: Bengals 34 vs. Eagles 28
  12. Glad to see the NHL cares about enforcing the Instigator Rule in the playoffs these days. I guess Darnell Nurse isn't as big a name or as important a player to Edmonton as Egveni Malkin was to Pittsburgh back in 2009. This not being the Stanley Cup Final probably impacted the decision as well. If this were, let's say, Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final, and it were Leon Draisaitl swinging the butt end of his stick at a player's head and instigating a fight in the final 2 minutes of the game, there would probably be no suspension.
  13. Reminds me of that scene from the Sopranos where they are all sitting down bitching about Columbus Day being disrupted.
  14. What about the draft and taking someone like Marcelo Mayer, I hear he's pretty good . . . Oh wait!!!
  15. If we go in and beat the Chiefs at Arrowhead I think that this fanbase is going to be turned up to a level that it's almost never been at before. That would be one hell of a way to open up the season and would make the first home game and Ford Field be as loud as its ever been.
  16. Country music isn't dead, you just won't find anything good on the radio these days. You have to look to music blogs and streaming services to find good stuff like this from Megan Moroney and her new album Lucky. Good stuff with raw emotion, and actual country arrangements.
  17. I know we drop random names every time there are perceived "contract troubles" or "cap issues" with a team and ask should the Lions go after X player. Lamar Jackson, Tee Higgins, DeAndre Hopkins, Jeffery Simmons, etc. This one though, I'd consider very seriously if I were the Lions and that is Jets DT Quinnen Williams. I'm sure the Jets won't be trading him anytime soon, but in the off chance they were, I'd absolutely give up a boatload of draft capital to get arguably the best interior pass rusher in the league not named Aaron Donald. It won't happen, but I can dream.
  18. Really sucks to see Chicago win the Bedard sweepstakes. Who could have guessed that we would be drafting 9th.
  19. If Bridgewater wanted to start isn't staying in Miami his best option given how fragile Tua is?
  20. Aren't these the same people that wear t-shirts and ride around with bumper stickers that say "F*ck Your Feelings"?
  21. Detroit Free Press: 9 dead, 7 wounded in Texas mall shooting We love our guns more than our people. We love objects more than human beings. I have a message for the **** your feelings crowd, **** your guns! Your right to own a gun doesn't come before anyone's right to live.
  22. If Kenny doesn't win a Cup this year in Edmonton and if he gets bounced in the second round by Vegas, is his job on the line? I don't wish Kenny ill will really at this point, just wondering where Edmonton goes from here with Holland.
  23. I like the Gibbs and Campbell picks. In fact, I wanted both players to be drafted by the Lions prior to last week's draft. I had both of them mocked to the Lions in several of the simulations I did. I think Gibbs gives us the ability to continue to have a dynamic, high scoring, top 5-7 offense in the league. And in a league where offense wins championships, that's a very good thing. The argument I have in my head is not will they end up being good players, I think they both very much will. Nor is it so much a positional value argument. In the case of Gibbs, if you can get close to Alvin Kamara production for more than one contract's worth of play, if he can make it to a second contract playing at a high level, I think it will have been more than worth it. Gibbs could be a special type of offensive weapon for this organization that elevates our production even further or at least prevents us from having any drop off in production from last season. The argument and comparisons I am making in my head are will Gibbs be equally or more valuable to this team, for what we need, than either Tyree Wilson or Jalen Carter? Will Campbell be equally or more valuable for this team than Joey Porter Jr. Calijah Kancey, or Nolan Smith? If the answer is yes, they will be equally or more valuable than I am all good with having both on my team. If Jalen Carter turns into Ndamukong Suh or Gerald McCoy out there and Gibbs doesn't come close to being a Kamara type of offensive playmaker, it's going to make a lot of Lions have buyers remorse and there will be lots of "I told you so's" from fans. I won't be one of those, because I didn't want Carter and never expected him to be on our draft board. We'll just have to trust Brad Holmes in the end and let all of their respective careers playout. Nothing that we can do except watch the games and hope our Lions and these players end up as good as we are hyping them up to be next season.
  24. RIP Gordon Lightfoot. I have never given his music collection a proper listen, nor dove all that deep into it. I've been wanting to do it at some point as I very much enjoy folk music.
  25. I'd love to get Smith if he is cut. I think he is better than some of the washed up names I have heard people suggest on 97.1 like Jadaveon Clowney, Carlos Dunlap, or Justin Houston.
