  1. No thanks on Lindgren because I feel like he'll be overpaid by a couple mil a season giveth his age. There is no production there from an offensive standpoint and he's not some amazing defensive defenseman. It sounds like the PK was one of his strengths but he took a step back last season. I read reading this hockey analytics blog on Lindgren and here are some stats that stood out "According to PuckIQ, Lindgren was a +22, 48.5% for Corsi F% (shot attempts), 45.4% HDCF% (slot chances). Last season, he had 129 shifts in the defensive zone, was a +29, 54% for CF%, and 54.3% for HDCF%. Lindgren’s other contribution historically has been the penalty kill. This season he logged 200+ mins. However, the Rangers were better at limiting chances on the penalty kill when he was on the bench."
  2. Wait, isn't Marchand like 37? Is he really going to play until he's 43? Crazy to think he signed a 6 year deal though. I guess he wants to be the new Jarmir Jagr.
  3. As much as I crapped on Kenny over the years, that was not his fault in any way. Had Suter and Parise not been from Minnesota and Wisconsin respectively, and also very good friends with one another, chances are we could have gotten one or both of them. Suter went and wanted to play with his buddy Zach Parise if my memory serves me correctly.
  4. I'm glad this trade was made and Tarasenko is not on the roster any longer. I'm glad that we didn't have to retain any salary to move him. I'm hopeful there wasn't a high round pick included in moving him out, add there was with Wallman. I'm glad Yzerman essentially admitted this signing was a failure and traded him out of here. But, it's still on Yzerman that he signed him in the first place.
  5. When they said he put on weight did they specify whether it was muscle or fat. I'd hate for him to show up to camp all blown up, looking like mid-2010s Dustin Byfuglien.
  6. Screw writing a book and making money off of it. If she wants to do the right thing she can start caucusing with and running as a Democrat. At a time like this, with Democrats down in the Senate, if she believes Trump is this big of a threat, she can choose to abandon Republicans and become a Democrat.
  7. Kid looks like he has a lot of energy in his game and seems to have some playmaking ability. It's a 4th round pick, so I will neither celebrate nor complain because I know nothing about this kid or any of the 4th round picks that came after him.
  8. Yzerman hasn't had that much success drafting in the 2nd round and most teams don't anyways, so I'm OK with this trade. Trading for Linus Ullmark when he was available from Buffalo could have helped, but you can't win em all or be in on every big trade.
  9. So Yzerman acquired Mrazek just to flip him? Was that actually part of his long term strategy or did he realize he would stifle this team's progress because he simply isn't good at this point in his career? What was the point of bringing him in?
  10. Travis Konecy is who ESPN has his comp as on their draft coverage last night.
  11. Apparently he blew out his achilles. Hopefully it's something he makes a full recovery from. 😬
  12. Carter Bear was crying not because he's elated, but because he knows he'll never make the playoffs again. In all seriousness, what a great moment to see. He's obviously overcome with emotion go make it to the NHL. Welcome to Detroit Carter Bear.
  13. ESPN is comparing him to Travis Konecny. That's not a bad player to have on your team if he lives up to that comparison.
  14. Bear had 40 goals and 82 points total in the WHL.
  15. Red Wings select Carter Bear. A LW from Everett in the WHL. Carter Bear scouting report
  16. **** you ESPN. Just like when the Lions always drafted, ESPN goes to commercial break.
  17. Who am I kidding though. We'll end up drafting and not trading the pick. My guess is Eklund.
  18. I'd love a trade for Jason Robertson right about now.
  19. We're going to pick Eklund aren't we? A small, highly skilled, Swede. Though I think Eklund plays a pretty physical game for his size in addition to the touch he has. Seems like Hakan Andersson
  20. I would love it if Dman Radim Mrtka were on the board for us at 13. I like the skill of Viktor Eklund, but the guy is too small I feel.
  21. So it looks increasingly likely we're picking at 13, not trading up and not moving the pick for an NHL player. Oh well.
  22. Damn, Hagens to Boston. That sucks.
  23. What a coincidence that in the very first ****ing year of the franchise Utah moves up 10 ****ing spots in the draft.
  24. I think "stay the course" will be the overarching theme of the offseason. Given all the other players going elsewhere and how little we are being linked in the media to anyone else, I think we're going to be looking at a similar roster next year. You might see a guy like Danielson up from Grand Rapids. You might also see a second or third pairing defenseman or third or fourth line forward get signed. But it is looking increasingly less likely they'll be big game hunting for an elite or very good player on defense or at forward. I'd like a big move to be made, but I also want it to be the right move. Signing a "big name" player or making a move for the sake of it is obviously not good business. I also don't want Yzerman to get desperate and try to be competitive for the sake of it. We witnessed several what could be coined as "desperate" moves by Kenny during is later years here. I'd rather Yzerman just stick to whatever plan he has and with the roster he has then crippling us with bad, long-term contracts to veterans who are on the decline or younger players who get massively overpaid. I don't want a Ben Chiarot, Frans Nielsen, JT Compher, Mikael Samuelsson, Stephen Weiss, Todd Burtuzzi type of deal out of Yzerman.
  25. Remember when Kenny signed Frans Nielsen and we all freaked out and got pissed. LOL! That deal was nearly a decade ago and now John Tavares, a better player, signs for a much better deal.
