  1. Trey Hendrickson had 17.5 sacks last season and 25 QB hits. He's a guy that can play all three downs as well. If the Bengals continue their free fall you wouldn't call about Hendrickson? I would for sure.
  2. Another Detroit thing I loved growing up as a kid was listening to all the great morning shows we used to have around here on the radio. **** Purtan and Purtan's People in the morning on Q95.5 and Oldies 104.3 and Drew and Mike on the WRIF. My dad always had Purtan's show on in the car when he'd take me to school or when we would be driving around in the summer time. Loved the cast of characters they had on his show from the late Doc Andrews, Big Al Muscavito, Ankles Stewart, his daughter Jackie Purtan, Dana Mills, etc. Also loved all the gags and bits he used to do. They don't do local radio like this anymore. When I got older and into high school and college I discovered Drew and Mike on WRIF in the 2000s. Ed Belfour blows, the prank calls, funny but real names they'd call. It was such childish, stupid humor at times, but it cracked me up.
  3. Maybe the Bengals aren't ready to give up on their season just yet, but statistically speaking, it's over. The stats around teams that are 0-3 making the playoffs are 2.5%. Trey Hendrickson's agent and the Bengals should be getting calls real soon, especially if they start 0-4. As a team on the precipice of a Super Bowl appearance, we should be one of those teams calling.
  4. My comment was a joke, but there is truth to it. Availability is a skill and unfortunately it is one Davenport hasn't displayed consistently throughout his career.
  5. Maybe not, probably not, but they know the probability of an 0-3 team making the playoffs is under 3%. With Trey Hendrickson crossing the 30 mark this year, it may be something they want to consider. I doubt Holmes would even do it, but we should be making calls like that.
  6. Marcus Davenport is a one trick pony at getting injured and they keep him on the roster.
  7. If that one thing is get the QB to the ground or disrupt the play by forcing him out of the pocket then that's a pretty important skill to have. They put out plenty of one trick pony run defenders out there who couldn't get after a QB. Somehow with this skill though, they don't seem to emphasize it. They seem to value containment and run defense more than just straight up getting after or pressuring the QB.
  8. Edit for duplicate post. Trump's still a dummy though.
  9. This reminds me of his mind-numbingly stupid interview he had with Jonathan Swann at Axios when covid was going on. He kept look at graphs and talking about how we were better than the world during the interview.
  10. If there was evidence that Al Jazeera was actively aiding Hamas it might change my mind, but this is a really bad look. Is there evidence to support such a claim at this time? Israel and it's regime lead by a wannabe dictator are trending in very, very dangerous territory here. When governmental agencies, lead by the command of a wannabe dictator, can come in and stifle the press and decide what is and isn't legit news media and coverage, that's not acceptable. That's the kind of actions Trump wants to take here by changing liable laws, litigating the press in court, and stymieing any journalistic coverage that's not favorable to him. If you are freaked out and concerned with Trump's dangerous rhetoric towards the press, we should be freaked out when his authoritarian Israeli counterpart does it too.
  11. Given the Bengals are in a free fall now at 0-3 and likely out of the playoff picture, would you call them regarding a trade for Trey Hendrickson? If so, what do you think Hendrickson costs and what would you be willing to pay for him?
  12. Dan Campbell was on the morning show with Costa and Jansen on 97.1. He was asked directly about who might replace Marcus Davenport and he was specifically asked about James Houston. Campbell only mentioned Houston in passing when saying whether or not Houston could be a replacement for Davenport. He talked more about Josh Paschal taking on a bigger role. I just don't get it with Houston. He looked so promising his rookie year and then it's like they lost complete faith in this guy.
  13. Hillary Clinton said basket of deplorables and Obama talked about certain voters clinging to guns and religion and there was all this indignation from the media and nonstop coverage of their comments. Republicans insult large swaths of the the voting base and the media makes them pay little consequence.
  14. Jayden Daniel's throwing bombs on target tonight. It's very early in his career, but he looks like the real deal so far.
  15. Another uniquely Detroit thing is the Ritchie Valens Summit Place Kia song. You should be driving a Kia, from Summit Place Kia!
  16. Jaemo was suspended for multiple games for the location that he mistakenly placed a bet at. Josh Gordon was suspended for an entire season for inhaling substance from a plant on his own time. Rashee Rice injures people while driving reckless in a sports car, then flees from the scene, and nothing comes of it. The NFL cares more about where someone places a non-NFL related bet and inhaling substance derived from a plant than they do the safety and welfare of others.
  17. Falcons just got robbed. That was clear PI as the DB never turned around and played the ball while bear hugging Pitts to the ground.
  18. Watching SNF and just LOL at Mike Tirico saying philanthropy is important to the NFL. Yeah, it's so important that's why they had to be paid to display patriotism at games and league events. Paid patriotism is not what I'd call philanthropic. https://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-way/2015/11/05/454834662/pentagon-paid-sports-teams-millions-for-paid-patriotism-events
  19. Scoring zero points in the second half is partly to blame on Goff and the passing game, good passer rating or not. It's more on Ben Johnson than Goff, but he still deserves some blame. It's going to catch up to them that they struggle to score in the second half again as it did last week.
  20. Rashee Rice still playing I see.
  21. Fracture, uh oh. That could be 4-8 weeks in recovery time.
  22. This was another good performance today by the defense. It's a bit of a bummer to see this defense play so well to start the season out and the offense start out so slowly. The defense has contained well and kept opposing offense out of the redzone and really limited their big plays that haunted them last season. It was another underwhelming performance by their passing offense after a solid start to the game. The running game was solid again and Montgomery has been a beast all year. They have to get this passing attack consistently in rhythm for four straight quarters. We already saw their inability to score in the second half cost them last week and it's going to bite them again. I'm beginning to wonder if Ben Johnson took out one of those high dollar Lloyd's of London insurance policies. You know the ones that have some kind of clause attached. In this case if Johnson's offense scores a touchdown in the third quarter, does he lose out on the insurance payout?
  23. Quiet for most of the game but came through in the clutch.
  24. Brutal series of injuries this game.
