  1. instead of Verlander or Scherzer, they grab Cobb (37) to be the old and injured pitcher. yeeesh.
  2. just hoping Harris gets Austin Hays and Buddy Biancalana at this point!
  3. if Soto gets 765-805MM at 26, then Riley (if he stays healthy) is looking at 300M+ at 28
  4. maybe other teams are scared away, maybe an opportunity, but some real risk here for a defense-first player "agent Scott Boras said a late-April return is possible, while Padres president of baseball operations A.J. Preller in October said Kim might not be ready until 'May, June, July.'”
  5. I predict Adames to SFG 7/182M
  6. Tim Patrick, a big (6-5) WR, with few drops, a vet who is happy to play (after injuries) and play for a winner, who does not complain about catches or TDs, and who is a great blocker in the run game, is just a great addition/compliment to St Brown and Williams, and IMO an improvement over Reynolds. Would not be surprised to see him re-up for 2 years. Holmes is just a fantastic GM.
  7. going for it on 4th down at the 30 was the right call - Goff audibled to the wrong play Campbell has instilled a mindset that the Lions are always the aggressor - that is a huge benefit to the team, and often puts their opponent in an uncomfortable position of trying to be what they are not Whoever compared this regular season to the 84 Tigers is spot on - we get to see another magical regular season run!
  8. if that is the 10th move Harris makes this Winter, fine. But they are now more window dressing than impactful.
  9. yes he was a project and yes he's had some injuries, but journeyman Peko, rookie Wingo, and street FA O'Connor are all ahead of him - not good so far.
  10. interested to see if Broderick Martin can contribute anything with Reader and Levi and Pascal and Wingo out. If we see mostly O'Connor, that's a bad sign for Martin, a top 100 pick who hasn't done anything yet.
  11. adding a Kim (either one) to the mix adds to the uncertainty as well
  12. Aaron Rogers is getting the NFL send off all of us hoped he would get https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/42725376/jets-tepid-aaron-rodgers-starting-status-home-loss
  13. It is also well known in NFL circles that Ben Johnson has a $10K per week cocaine habit. Do not hire this guy!
  14. two great articles ($) in Atlantic about why we have food deserts in inner cities and rural towns https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2024/12/food-deserts-robinson-patman/680765/ The problem of food deserts will not be solved without the rediscovery of the Robinson-Patman Act. Requiring a level pricing playing field would restore local retailers’ ability to compete. This would provide immediate relief to entrepreneurs who have recently opened grocery stores in food deserts, only to find that their inability to buy on the same terms as Walmart and Dollar General makes survival difficult. With local grocery stores back on the scene in these neighborhoods, chain supermarkets may well return, too, lured by a force far more powerful than tax breaks: competition. and the effect of MAGA convincing people that Dems are focused on trans rights - when it reality it is MAGA that is obsessed with trans people https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2024/11/democrats-defined-progressive-issues/680810/ By far the most notable way that Democrats are misperceived relates to what our survey referred to as “LGBT/ transgender policy.” Although this was not a major priority for Democratic voters in reality—it ranked 14th—our survey respondents listed it as Democrats’ second-highest priority. This effect was especially dramatic among Republicans—56 percent listed the issue among Democrats’ top three priorities, compared with just 8 percent who listed inflation—but nearly every major demographic group made a version of the same mistake.
  15. serious question: did the Ohio State Police pepper spray any Ohio State players, or just Wolverines?
  16. Miami was useless; come on Arizona, Baltimore and Buffalo!
  17. someone above correctly said this is a wake up game they needed, but without the loss. nothing to apologize for - they won a division game fully on board with losing some games if it means they are healthy for playoffs
  18. next week's game in a Thursday Prime game in Det
  19. I have never seen a team lose so many guys on one side of the ball in one game before.
  20. the key word here is should - yes, Harris should - will he?
  21. Tigers can play him in RF and would then have an solid inhouse option if Tork bombs (bombs in the bad way). his road numbers are very good. Another LH bat is not the perfect choice, but even if he stays two years, he will be leaving as the Clark-McGonigle-Liranzo-Briceno wave arrives.
  22. big 4 Boras clients from last year all avoid a long wait this year: Montgomery fires Boras and opts in to 22.5; Bellinger opts in to 32.5; Chapman signs extension during the season; and Snell is first top 10 FA to sign. BTW, Snell has a 5M trade assignment bonus, biggest ever
