  1. someone named Sean Guenther also is now a Detroit Tiger
  2. hard to follow but sounds like Hinch is an idiot (and a loser) because he does not have non-existent all-stars hitting behind Madris even though all know he is too good a hitter to not be protected, and Hinch and Harris are actually hoping one of their players fails; is that correct? That's an Ignore.
  3. they probably should have just stood pat last winter and sold at the trade deadline; instead they spent the owner's hard earned money, and now they are playing relevant baseball through September; also, some of their free agent signing did not work out; would have been better to evaluate the situation for another season or two (or three)
  4. Bobby Witt had a 1.353 OPS for July; looking at a 12 WAR season maybe; someone tell him it is August
  5. as mentioned, no team avoids injuries, and Harris is on notice that many of the core players have hit IL multiple times, and that regression is not only possible but probably will hit some players. they need to add 2 bats minimum (Canha-level or above) if not 3: someone who play 1b; a left side IF, and a RH OF with power. Harris cannot hide behind "evaluation" BS any more.
  6. seems as though they have 2 guys who maybe can't play 3rd, but both can be acceptable at 2nd
  7. SS help is probably not come through free agency. Kim or Adames would cost 20-25M per year, and that's about $50M for the position when you include Baez, probably about half the 2025 payroll. So Harris is going to slow roll it with Sweeney + Baez, or else he needs to make a trade.
  8. quick winter shopping list: C: #3 catcher 1: need a multi-positional guy who can slide to first (not Canha but like him) if Tork flops again 2: covered for now SS: need short and medium term options as Baez/McKinstry/Kreidler are bad; Sweeney seems stretched at SS 3: have so many blah internal options, Harris will again ignore external options OF: need another CF option if Veirling at 3rd; need RH power Need 2 starters and 2 BP arms
  9. the grades for the Tigers are all over the place both for the main deal and the deadline in general - basically, no one knows what else was on the table, no one knows if FLaherty's back will hold up, and no one knows which of the prospects will work out eventually
  10. trust the media not twitter rando
  11. that's Jack's childhood team, so he's thrilled
  12. getting into the "no second chances" time zone, where if a team reject medicals, no time to pivot to another team. Baltimore infamous for the level of scrutiny they apply to players.
  13. Pipeline Scouting grades: Fastball: 50 | Slider: 55 | Changeup: 50 | Control: 50 | Overall: 40 Born in Puerto Rico, Montalvo attended high school in Florida and became the Rangers' final pick (20th round) in the 2021 Draft. A former shortstop who stood out more for his athleticism than his pure stuff as an amateur, he has thrived as a full-time pitcher in pro ball. He transitioned from relieving in his 2022 pro debut to starting last year and logged a 2.83 ERA, .211 average-against and 107 strikeouts in 95 1/3 innings in Single-A. Montalvo's four-seam fastball sits in the low 90s and tops out at 95 mph, playing better than its velocity because of its carry and armside run and the extension in his delivery, and he's also developing a sinking two-seamer. His best swing-and-miss pitch is a low-80s slider with good depth. He also has nice feel for a fading mid-80s changeup that shows flashes of becoming a solid offering. An athletic mover who gets down the mound well, Montalvo combines quality extension with a low release height and flat approach angle, presenting an unusual look for hitters. He improved his control in the second half of last season, throwing more and better strikes. He profiles as a back-of-the-rotation starter and perhaps more if his stuff gets better as he adds more strength.
  14. Paul DeJong traded to other dugout, going from CWS to KCR CWS are going to be extra awful the last 2 months
  15. this is so stupid! If you are looking for a competitive edge, wouldn't it make more sense to have LOWER quality toilet paper? Fire Harris!
  16. Elias was never trading his blue chip guys for anyone
  17. a guy Det released after 2021 season
  18. where are the Thread Police when you need them?
  19. he does have that silly "plays the right way" vibe; but that was really impressive; if the game went much longer he would have had to come out as his eye was swollen shut after the game
  20. Trade for Franklin Perez 2.0? WTF
  21. Lombard would add to the critical mass of Clark, McGonigle, Brencino, etc
