  1. Communication is great, but they could tell him they are converting him to 3rd string catcher and it wouldn't change the fact that he is not opting out of $98MM.
  2. yes. injuries - plural. the broken foot is a fluke. But stress fractures in a young guy? elbow injured as he plays recklessly. not a fluid athlete at all. another reason to not have full time DH
  3. one of the best orgs in MLB sees him as just that, so maybe yes but on the Tigers, he's easily the starter
  4. if he got traded to LAD, it would have seriously affected his career, stuck behind one of the best Cs in baseball for 3.5 years, getting 60 starts a year
  5. Henning has a piece out with Iapoce talking up JHM at 3b, Keith at 2b, Kreidler at SS. JHM: Iapoce says it’s better to focus on improvements. “The work behind the scenes — people haven’t gotten to see all of that." “He’s gained confidence. He’s been making plays. He’s been good.” Keith: “He’s improving at second,” Iapoce said. “His detail, his maturing in his practice work — what you come to understand is it’s not about the rep, it’s about respecting the rep.” “In his work since then (Trammell's visit),” Iapoce said, speaking of Keith, “you can see a little different focus on the details. He realizes it’s more than just taking 100 ground balls." “He’s maturing in his work. And it’s pretty cool to see.” Kreidler: “He’s a game-changer at shortstop."
  6. JJ has 3 errors in 134 career games; he's 22; 23 in Oct; so possible he will get at least a brief look in the majors at 23
  7. There must be 100s of angry guys pitching at AAA who think "How the **** did Buck Farmer pitch in 10 different MLB seasons?"
  8. I am mentally preparing myself for another Winter of "Gosh, not just yet" as Harris sees what Avila-sourced players like Meadows, Keith, Perez, Dingler, and maybe Jung and Bigbie, can do. Without significant transactions, the payroll will be well short of $100M, which should get Harris a sweet bonus form Ilitch.
  9. one of the worst things Obama did was to expand Title IX to force schools to become investigators and adjudicators in cases that can destroy young lives (and it is almost exclusively young men facing down these tribunals.) Think about all the times professionals get it wrong, and now we have amateurs doing it. The lack of due process protections is just horrific. (And Tucker is an idiot who deserves to be fired.)
  10. so, she politely waited for him to ejaculate before ending the call? Tracy said she thought to herself, "Oh my god, this is happening, and I can’t stop it." In the moment, she said, it didn’t occur to her to hang up. Eventually she said something along the lines of, “If you do this, I don’t ever want to hear about it, we are only friends, that’s it.”
  11. Joe Rogan's shaman is going to rub garlic and sauerkraut on Aaron's ankle; should be back to start 2nd half.
  12. Avila sat on a valuable asset - a young, cost controlled starter, ROY, All Star - until injuries set in and that asset became a middling, old, blah reliever. If GL joins Wentz and Olsen in the 4th to 8th starter roles, great! Avila perhaps got a useful piece yet again. Fulmer just another example of Avila's failure to maximize his assets.
  13. Cruz-Bigbie-Jung carried the Erie lineup since Keith, Wenceel and Dingler were promoted, but Cruz has fallen way off his early pace and Bigbie is now in Tol. It's Jung and a bunch of blah.
  14. not sure if this is a serious post or not, but he has played 8 games at Lakeland. No real analysis can take place based on that.
  15. Jung ties it in the 9th with solo HR; hits 2 run HR in 10th; Bigbie hits HR as well. 4 HRs in 2 days for JJ
  16. Maton adds a double 5/5
  17. also noticing that the system is improving, even with a decent number of guys stalling out or washing out or getting demoted, as you would expect every year. Pacheco, Santana, Graham, Sequera have all disappointed Couch, Serretti and Cruz flashed for a few months, but not much talent there IMO Workman got demoted; Cabrera looks done
  18. he and Alvaro Gonzalez both moved to Toledo because, to be blunt, they are not priorities so no concerns about how moving them will effect their development
  19. Jobe again has no walks; happy to see a young guy throw so many strikes
  20. On Earth 654, in 2022 Avila got a contract extension when the Tigers finished 1 game shy of the Wild Card because Greene does not break his foot at the end of ST, Austin Meadows does not contract Covid, Candelario hits 50 doubles, Robbie Grossman does not turn into a pumpkin, and ERod’s wife never finds out he is sleeping with the nanny.
  21. was mentioned earlier, but Malloy and Keith don't need to be added to the 40 this winter, so in (I assume) April 2024 they will be added to the 40 and 26 man rosters and come North. the tigers have at least a rational reason (defense) to keep them at Toledo now. that gives Harris two 40 man roster spots to churn all Winter.
