  1. just not optionable; if he just put up a 725 OPS vs RHP, he would stay in Det as a solid bench piece. should survive all Winter; needs to beat out McKinstry and Wenceel Perez next Spring
  2. if rosters expand on Sept 1, and they recall Maton, I think they avoid burning his last option. same thing happened earlier this year when he went to Toledo for 2 weeks. So they may end up with an option to use next year. Not sure if that is a good thing or not.
  3. K% is not everything, but Rogers and Dingler probably strike out too much for Harris's liking, so Kelly and Sands may very well be the 2024 duo. Seems to me the best duo is Kelly/Rogers (if healthy they could get you up to 4+ WAR), but if Rogers' value has peaked, then Harris probably is shipping him out. They are not going to have 4 catchers on the 40, so either they risk losing Dingler in Rule 5 draft, release Sands, or trade Rogers.
  4. looking at 14.8% chance to make the playoffs, LAA made a ton of moves at the trade deadline and then proceeded to lose 7 in a row; and have gone 4-4 since; now looking at 0.9% chance to make the playoffs. and they started their top pick's clock early. and Ohtani is leaving, though maybe not leaving LA.
  5. I missed this. Lynn is drinking the cool-aid. Worried that Harris will have to deal with roster crunch when all the prospects come up. Baez will be gone in a year (though he does not say who will replace him.) It is a glorious new day under Harris (even though most of these guy were brought in by Avila.) Henning: TigerTown’s steady talent uptick shows what’s coming Detroit’s way The hard part for Harris will be in shoring up soft spots and sorting out an overload of similarly skilled — and similarly deficient — guys at too many positions (specifically, outfield, third base, and second base).
  6. think this was posted elsewhere but it is just tribalism; something seen as bad, is seen as good if Trump did it As if you needed it, here’s more evidence that the GOP base has become a cult. In a lengthy story about the DeSantis Slump, the New Yorker’s Benjamin Wallace-Wells includes this nugget:
  7. looks like Trump's lawyers said no to the witness tampering/obstruction of justice really on Monday. no matter, I think he will have the post-processing rally described above and commit all the same crimes then
  8. I am sure there will be more ups and downs, but Tork-Greene-Carpenter are showing they are ML starting caliber players, with still undetermined ceilings for all. Next year they will be going through the same growing pains with Keith-Meadows-Malloy*. It will be tricky to balance winning with developing young talent. The division is there for the taking. *(Also could see Wenceel, Sands, Lipcius?, Kreidler yet again, and later Bigbie)
  9. just how Al Avila drew it up
  10. Karl Malone is the HOF. When he was a 20 year old college player, a 13 year old girl gave birth to his son.
  11. and if the mom was extorting him for money, you can always arrest her too.
  12. Shaprio actually wrote an entire book about prosecuting Obama under RICO for all his crimes
  13. Caitlyn Jenner was not the worst guest last night on Fox
  14. kind of mirrors the Trevor Bauer situation - even if somehow not illegal, career significantly at risk
  15. FG has them 15th. obviously, these just don't matter much. can you graduate talent to the majors and trade talent when needed? that is all that matters. (I will note that Carpenter was never on many Top XX lists, because his rise was so fast, and then the next winter his prospects status was expired.)
  16. can't stop, won't stop committing the same crime
  17. to repeat, this tweet is STILL up
  18. Chapman is probably aiming for a Kris Bryant pay day, 7/182M. maybe he falls short of that, but 6/150 seems reachable for him. Chapman is really, really good, and will be coming off a 5+ WAR season. also insanely consistent. per FG, his offense, defense and baserunning have all been assets every year of his career. rare that a player does not have a down year. he would be a great add. but hard to see Tigers with the wining bid
  19. still works, but glitchy for me yesterday trying same thing
  20. or, alternatively, throw cash at them
  21. Merrifield on a 2 year deal would be a bridge to Jung/Lee/Gold. Same for Caratini if Dingler is still in their long term plans, though 2 years probably not enough. They can pay a premium for any player for a short term deal; the 2024 payroll is looking Oakland-esque.
  22. C - NEED TO ACQUIRE; Jake 1B - Tork 2B - NEED TO ACQUIRE; McKinstry or Maton SS - Baez 3B - Keith; Ibanez or Short or Kreidler LF/DH - Carpenter; Malloy or Baddoo CF - Greene; NEED? RF - Meadows; Vierling If Harris can fill C, 2B, and maybe another OF, with a little growth and a little luck, no reason they cannot be .500ish, and in the ALC that's all you need. Hard to believe he again ignores improving ML lineup this winter.
