  1. 3 hours to go!
  2. only 2 AL teams competing for the last WC spot that have not made a deadline addition yet are ... Yankees and Red Sox.
  3. embarrassing for him and the News; apparently no editor or copy boy anywhere who can help/correct him
  4. JV is the key. He might just stay with the Mets. Maybe he goes back to Houston. He passed on the LAD offer this winter, but Kate presumably would not mind Cali. IMO could not see him going to Baltimore, but that must be what Mets want - pay down 95% of his deal in return for multiple prospects. Having him stay put is the best case for Harris - makes Lorenzen and Rodriguez that much more valuable.
  5. moving on from Candy was logical and missing out on having DJ Herz and Kevin Made join the Tigers system is something we can all survive
  6. hopefully that helps force Balt's hand into making a move
  7. could be Harris got an acceptable offer, but waiting to see if another team tops it
  8. if season ended today, they are in playoffs
  9. Harris should trade ERod, Lorenzen, Cisnero and Schreve; and listen to offers on just about anyone; one (or more) of the trades will turn out to be a complete dud, but that is just how it works; DD made some bad trades; you need to be confident that more trades will help you, than hurt you (with some just being neutral)
  10. Malloy 3-4, HR. even better in July than he was to start season; would be nice if his defense was at least tolerable, but that is still TBD.
  11. took me a while to realize that Lakeland FCL (R) and Lakeland FSL (A) were different teams. maybe Clark reported to the wrong diamond
  12. White Sox must really hate Thompson with a passion.
  13. Nastrini is a top 10 prospect in a good LAD system. Leasure has a huge FB and no control, lots of Ks repeating AA; and superstar Trayce Thompson? for 2 garbage pitchers? Harris should get more for both ERod and Lorenzen.
  14. the inverse is Avila never trading Boyd because he never got the BIG WIN haul from any team that he was desperately looking for. as well as holding onto Nick and JD until their market cratered.
  15. CWS close to trading Lynn and Kelley to LAD. That's how its done; dump everything.
  16. the Rays started out like the 1984 Tigers, but have fallen hard, decimated by SP injuries. We all assume TB won't make a desperation trade, because they are too smart, but they have to do SOMETHING. right? Ultimately no one knows - not even their current teams - how these kids will turn out. All we know is most prospects will fall short. Its been that way for 100 years. I still remember FG roasting DD for getting robbed by Seattle when trading for Fister. adding an Olson or a Veirling will help the cause. always hoping for a little more than that.
  17. Blah. Williamson and Spiers are Faedo-level at best. Siani is yet another LH OF. I'd do ERod to Balt for just Joey Ortiz.
  18. pitching has sustained them; if more than ERod and Lorenzen go, they will implode
  19. Zach "Al Avila decided to pick Jace Jung instead of me over the objection of the front office nerds and now I am in the majors while Jung just got promoted to AA" Neto singles and scored on the Ohtani HR.
  20. like others noted, it comes down to health. trout's body has broken down, costing him huge chunks of multiple seasons. that is the difference between being a top 25 player and a top 10 player. I saw that Ohtani was clocked as the fastest player in baseball earlier this year. he is a unicorn among unicorns. when people are comparing you to Babe Ruth, you must be pretty good
  21. https://www.mlb.com/news/eduardo-rodriguez-drawing-interest-at-2023-mlb-trade-deadline?partnerID=mlbapp-iOS_article-share The Tigers left-hander has been drawing plenty of scouts to his recent starts, with the Rangers, Rays, Reds, Phillies and D-backs among the clubs keeping a close eye on the 30-year-old. Those scouts on hand to watch Rodriguez's past two starts have also stuck around to watch Michael Lorenzen, Detroit's lone All-Star representative this season. Lorenzen will be a free agent at the end of the year, making him an attractive rental candidate who can start during the regular season and potentially move to the bullpen for the postseason. The Tigers are also said to be considering trades of at least one of their relievers, with 27-year-old right-hander Jason Foley drawing significant interest.
  22. 3 Ks; probably his last appearance is off to a good start
  23. i see the Astros and Rangers were getting chippy last night. I don't think either team needs to respond to LAA moves, but both Tex and Hou have some obvious pitching holes, so hopefully that helps Harris
