  1. how to you check to see when the last time a ROAD team held the HOME team to 21 yards in the first half?
  2. At the half, its Lions 27, Packers 21 27 points for the Lions 21 yards for the Packers
  3. ESPN knows something we don't?
  4. a Jake Rogers clone seems to be Dingler's ceiling (which is not bad at all, but obviously he may not reach it) Kelly has the skills Harris wants, but zero real world production FG and Law both were weirdly high on Sands, who was seconds away from returning to the majors, before ERod nixed trade
  5. C Rogers; Kelly. To show how smart he is, Harris might give Kelly a shot to rebound. They won’t carry 4 catchers, so maybe Sands DFA, Dingler added despite K rate, but no surprise if Harris trades Rogers again. 1b and SS: Tork and Baez 2b and 3b: The sheer number of guys, regardless of talent (Keith (L); McKinstry (L); Maton (L); Vierling; Ibanez; Lipcius; Short; Kreidler; plus Perez (S); Leonard; Jung (L) at Tol) makes it unlikely Harris adds a veteran (like Merrifield, Urshela) to the mix, even though he absolutely should. Nevin DFA and Malloy to LF/DH. LF/DH: Greene (L); Malloy; Baddoo (L); plus Bigbie at Tol CF: Meadows (L); Add RH OF RF: Carpenter (L); some Vierling Get a RH OF (like Margot, Carlson, Bader) who can play some defense. Baddoo obvious trade candidate regardless.
  6. Current payroll commitment is very Oakland A's-like, at about 34.5M, or up to 56M In: Baez 25; Skubal ~4.5; Rogers ~3; Mize ~2; maybe ERod 18; maybe Kelly 3.5 Gone (over 65M): Miggy 32; Boyd 10; Schoop 7.5; Lorenzen 5.8; Meadows 4.3; Cisnero 2.3; Turnbull 2.1; Schreve 1.5
  7. The division is winnable now and that should be reflected in trades and FA signings. I suspect that Harris will – again – not sign any FA position players, but will spend on pitching. They should add an IF and a RH OF, and a C if they can. I don’t buy the binary strawman arguments, that they either they “go for it” or they “sit tight”. They need to be moving forward, and that does NOT mean patiently waiting for a lot of Al Avila’s guys to turn into major league starters by 2025. Even with 3-5 real moves, payroll will be just $100-110M. They need to add to Tork-Greene-Carp core. Maybe that’s Keith early and/or Jung later. If they cannot retain ERod, must sign an impactful SP (up to and including Snell, Yamamoto); also add a Lorenzen type fixer upper SP (like Montas). Prefer to pass on Rule 5 draft as they are overloaded with solid bench players and RH relievers. I am preparing myself to be disappointed by a boring Winter as Scott “Calculated Risk” Harris assesses the situation further, focusing primarily on not making any mistakes that might lead to criticism.
  8. he's not going to exhaust his rookie status this year; in one month, he will put up about 0.8 WAR, based on average offense, great baserunning and defense; other prospects get more hype, but with his floor, hard to see how he is not a Top 100 Prospect for 2024. And that matters for PPI.
  9. I assume Miggy will play in every game, at least as a pinch hitter. Does he play 1st on Sunday?
  10. Lynn's an odd dude; I cannot tell when he is just riffing his own thoughts, making up contract clauses that don't exist, or has a real nugget of real info from a real source. Not only is he hyping Jung at 3rd, but intimates Jung is the in majors next year, a lot early than just a September look. Keith at 2nd, Jung at 3rd, Carp in RF and Malloy in LF would be, umm, an interesting defensive line up.
  11. they will have a Top 10 offense by 2042
  12. assuming Keith and Malloy are likely on opening day roster, a versatile defender like Kreidler might be a better fit than than Ibanez
  13. lots of guys who were injured and did not get playing time they wanted; reading way too much into this, but interesting that Jung is going - 575 PAs already
  14. President, Baseball Operations - Scott Harris Greenberg Vice President, Assistant General Manager - Sam Menzin, Rob Metzler, Jay Sartori Vice President, Player Personnel - Scott Bream Vice President, Player Development - Ryan Garko so Harris looked far and wide, and hired his Cubs friend. I wonder how this impacts Sam Menzin and Jay Sartori.
  15. after they sign Josh Hader, we won't see much of Lange in the 9th
  16. Greene with season ending surgery. Tigers not clear how bad an injury he had. Hopefully not TJ
  17. yes Haller also noted a combative public statement Tucker issued through his attorney last Monday as another example of him breaking his contract. Tucker's contract said he must "keep positive and constructive in tone any public comments about University policies." In the statement, Tucker called a pending hearing about sexual harassment claims a "sham."
  18. Communication is great, but they could tell him they are converting him to 3rd string catcher and it wouldn't change the fact that he is not opting out of $98MM.
  19. yes. injuries - plural. the broken foot is a fluke. But stress fractures in a young guy? elbow injured as he plays recklessly. not a fluid athlete at all. another reason to not have full time DH
  20. one of the best orgs in MLB sees him as just that, so maybe yes but on the Tigers, he's easily the starter
  21. if he got traded to LAD, it would have seriously affected his career, stuck behind one of the best Cs in baseball for 3.5 years, getting 60 starts a year
  22. Henning has a piece out with Iapoce talking up JHM at 3b, Keith at 2b, Kreidler at SS. JHM: Iapoce says it’s better to focus on improvements. “The work behind the scenes — people haven’t gotten to see all of that." “He’s gained confidence. He’s been making plays. He’s been good.” Keith: “He’s improving at second,” Iapoce said. “His detail, his maturing in his practice work — what you come to understand is it’s not about the rep, it’s about respecting the rep.” “In his work since then (Trammell's visit),” Iapoce said, speaking of Keith, “you can see a little different focus on the details. He realizes it’s more than just taking 100 ground balls." “He’s maturing in his work. And it’s pretty cool to see.” Kreidler: “He’s a game-changer at shortstop."
  23. JJ has 3 errors in 134 career games; he's 22; 23 in Oct; so possible he will get at least a brief look in the majors at 23
  24. There must be 100s of angry guys pitching at AAA who think "How the **** did Buck Farmer pitch in 10 different MLB seasons?"
