  1. good news for Tiger fans
  2. hit .191 and .197 in last 2 years at AAA (180 games); trending down for sure
  3. guy use to throw 6 pitches and bat; maybe Fetter can work some magic and have him do more with less
  4. yep; slightly bigger middle class, but not good overall C - no one 1b - Rhys Hoskins (31) 2b - Wong (33) SS - Javier Baez (31); Amed Rosario (28) 3b - Matt Chapman (31); Rafael Devers (27); Machado (31) LF - Lourdes Gurriel Jr. (30); Ian Happ (29); Jesse Winker (30) CF - Harrison Bader (30); Cody Bellinger (28) RF - Teoscar Hernandez (31); Hunter Renfroe (32) Superstar: Shohei Ohtani (29)
  5. Yes. Out of 8 billion people on the planet, there are at most 15 better shortstops. If Baez leaves, the 2024 SS will probably be a downgrade.
  6. Baez is almost certainly opting out in search of a bigger total guarantee. he will be the only FA option and should easily beat $98M even if he takes a small AAV hit. another problem to solve for Harris
  7. if it was reported correctly, Ilitch went to 10/275 last year with Correa. 10 years aligned with the length of Lindor and Seager's deals. AAV is pretty much aligns with Turner and Bogearts and Correa's AAV. total compensation was low. So, call me a sucker, but I don't think they were too far off. if Ilitch went to 10/325 (obviously a huge bump), would have Correa signed? they would now be looking at 9 more years thru Correa's age 36 season - totally reasonable
  8. it was always hard to determine PV of Lindor's deal as a huge amount of money was deferred - $50M (5 each year); Lindor will collect his last $5M in 19 years. Or 6 years after they are done paying Bobby Bonilla. in 14 years of free agency, Correa will get $385.1M. Boras gets it done again.
  9. pipeline top 100 https://www.mlb.com/prospects/2023/draft/
  10. I dont understand how MIL did this. ???
  11. I hope Harris is shopping Lange. Makes sense to move him now if you can get a potential core position player.
  12. what's the budget? for CB tax, they are at $133M right now. they should sign Correa. easily fits into budget, the line up, and has the strike zone skills Harris wants. the price will probably be a lot more than last year when they should have signed him. lowest risk of any SS
  13. simply hover over someone's avatar, and click "Ignore"; try it; it is both fun and easy!
  14. people see what they want to see yes, he extended Schoop; spent on Baez, ERod and Chafin last winter; splurged on Barnhart and brought in Meadows late. he made the biggest offer to Correa (but people tell me that's proof he is cheap as he knew Correa would reject it) Avila brought in new tech and new people and that cost money. but no one really knows if Chris thwarted Avila's master plan by saying no to a signing or a trade or a tech or a hire. I suspect the fact that Avila's low payroll helped get the Tigers into the black made Chris happy
  15. Chris would probably give Harris a raise if Miggy's $8M buyout was the biggest contract for 2024.
  16. churn (low K; high BB for Diego)
  17. agree. i have seen some people posting that they hope both Baez and ERod opt out; if healthy, they both should easily match their current deals, so no risk in opting out. another thing Harris needs to deal with
  18. Malloy is probably now the best (only?) RH batting OF across 4 levels Det-Tol-Erie-WMI. Braves fans do not appear to be too happy with deal which is a good sign
  19. improving this horrible team should be as easy as falling out of a row boat
  20. ugh. no trades and no signings, but really busy? when you are in a boat with a myriad of holes, just start by patching one; any one
  21. he could still be average or above average, but if he carries one of the worst bats in MLB again, it won't matter anyway
  22. Jansen, Quintana, Taillon gone.
