  1. need to take some action with Lorenzen; I assume he is open to staying; he will be 32 next year; is in great physical shape; with little mileage on his arm; last Winter, Elfin got 3/40 starting with his age 29 season; that neighborhood seems reasonable to me; Harris needs to move him if no extension
  2. some psychological value to $1M even and that would only be 55k more. gotta sign 3rd round pick
  3. don't see how they sign all HS guys, but that's another 42K to play with
  4. moving Baez is only important if they are pushing up against Ilitch's payroll max (whatever that is) and they aren't as it stands, they may not have a $100M payroll next year, even with Baez downgrading to Short to save some cash seems like a backwards move
  5. not a big fan of Bowden ($), but mentions the usual suspects: Erod, Lorenzen, Foley, Lange, Baez https://theathletic.com/4689336/2023/07/14/mlb-trade-deadline-teams-needs-buyers-sellers/?source=dailyemail&campaign=601983
  6. too bad, he's got so many skills, but ridiculous K rates
  7. 16th pick has some large hands (assuming not photoshopped)
  8. Many are predicting that which makes sense considering all that goes into successful SS play . Hands, arm, feet, technique, anticipation. But it shouldn’t take long to figure out if he can do it. Some guys get better. Greene was supposed to move to 1b according to some FWIW
  9. thanks. did not realize they still had draft and follow for juco guys. looks like of the 7 from 2022, none signed and one was drafted in 2023. if I understand, if Cerkowycz goes to juco for another year, Tigers can sign him until a week before the 2024 draft for up to $225K, with no impact on 2022 draft pool.
  10. drafting HS players in rounds 12, 17, 18, 20 is a huge shift in philosophy hope they have intel )and budget) that these guys are signable
  11. like Eisenhower, Niko is going to Korea
  12. don't recognize one name from today's picks, which means nothing. no one knew who Skubal or Carpenter were. and Hill, White and Beiske were drafted in rounds that no longer exist. have to trust they have id'ed some talent and they can develop it now
  13. if you are taking HS players you better have the ability to develop them; decades of failure makes me nervous that they really can do it, but whole new team in place obviously
  14. I think there are a lot of other pitchers like Lorenzen who will actually come to the Tigers to help them build value. Their recent track record is pretty good.
  15. If McGonigle can stay at SS (and there seems to be a wide range of opinions on that) then what a great pick Same for Anderson and 2B
  16. the timeline on HS position players - if they are really good - is not that different than college players. In fact, Greene beat JJ Bleday to the majors by a month.
  17. Jung LH guy with power over hit who might be able stay at 2b Anderson RH guy with hit over power who might be able to stay at 2b I know I know. You don’t draft based on who is playing at West Michigan
  18. in 2019, Marlins drafted JJ Bleday at 4 and Avila had to "settle" for Greene at 5. It is so hard to pass on a proven college performer for a HS player, but Marlins already moved on from JJ
  19. Crews is not going back to college and not going to the USFL; draft him
  20. I remember that Lange's numbers last year with Hasse behind the plate were significantly worse; but overall Haase is doing better in 2023 than Rogers. Maybe Jake gets more rookies?
  21. Tork still has the biggest bonus under the current system $8,416,300. Bonus pools by club: Pirates: $16,185,700 Tigers: $15,747,200 (they can go to 105% without penalty; an extra $787,360; $16,534,560 total) Nationals: $14,502,400 1. Pirates: $9,721,000 2. Nationals: $8,998,500 3. Tigers: $8,341,700 4. Rangers: $7,698,000 5. Twins: $7,139,700 Offer Crews $9M (basically 2nd pick money) and he will take it.
  22. Like ESPN, Pipeline has Skenes - Crews - Langford, and then with LHP Whitman (Kent St) at 37 https://www.mlb.com/news/mlb-pipeline-2023-mock-draft-july-6?t=mlb-draft-coverage
  23. if the Nats trade him to the Dodgers for Trayce Thompson, I'm going to be super pissed
