Gregory was a nothing trade but otherwise, you're right. I guess my memory is starting to fade in my, gulp, now middle age.
-
It's not like those guys are readily available and most of the big splash trades happen in the offseason anyway. I don't remember too many big deadline trades but someone can correct me if I'm wrong.
-
Absolutely buyers. You only get so many chances at a Superbowl run so take full advantage of it. I don't think they should sell the farm or anything like that but 3rd-5th round picks should be on the table to bring in solid players. If they want to shoot for the moon, and I doubt he's available, Maxx Crosby is a name that highly interests me. Gamewrecker in the trenches, still young and locked up long term, Michigan guy, definitely has that Detroit/Dan Campbell mentality. The cost would be crazy but if they go that route of big **** swinging move, he's the guy I'd shoot for. They'd have arguably the best offensive and defensive line in the league if they made that move, add in a top 5-8 QB which is what Goff is and you have instant SB contender.

Week Six: Detroit Lions (4-1) @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-1)

I get it, Happy Wife Happy Life. I have no such barriers to finding the stream of my choice so I guess I should be considered lucky. It's a pain at times to find a good one though. -
You trade Cousins especially with Jefferson out for a while, it's a no brainer for any organization with a brain which I question that Vikings management has. Older QB that is a UFA on a team that isn't a contender for the foreseeable future. They might just keep Cousins to make JJ happy and pay him top dollar and boy do I hope they do.

There are plenty of free ways to watch the game, I've been doing that for years as an out of market fan (have never paid a dime to watch a Lions game) and I'm talking beyond watching at a bar or at a buddies house. -
No. it's 'Murica now and only massive positive overreactions are allowed

lol, it's preseason. Ausar did hit the biggest shot that he took in the game. I think 1 preseason game is too early to determine that he can't shoot. Even if he never becomes a plus 3 point shooter which is quite possible, he does a lot of other things that help the team.

It means nothing. The Lions wrecked him when it mattered. -

Yikes dude. I'm sure you would have complained about Bill Walsh in the 80s. -

I wonder how Jamo will fit into the offense long term. The Lions are not a team that is built to take deep shots although they did take a few with Chark and Raymond last year and the staff asks a lot of their receivers in terms of blocking so I wonder if Jamo fits into that culture. He didn't have an issue getting his nose dirty at Alabama (you kind of have to be that way under Saban) so hopefully that translates. I just wonder because apparently he was struggling to grasp the playbook in Training Camp and preseason so we'll see. A part of me thinks that he'd be a better fit in an offense like Miami, KC or Dallas where there's more freedom allowed to their receivers. -
All fair points but you're never going to have a team full of plus defenders, you need some balance. I suppose the issue is that the Pistons have zero plus defenders outside of Stewart possibly either because they're too young, had bad coaching or are just not good enough at it so Bogey's lack of defense exacerbates that situation but they also don't have any plus shooters in the starting lineup so ridding of him and plugging in Ausar I assume will absolutely exacerbate THAT situation. The Pistons don't have anybody that plays winning basketball currently so it's kind of a tough evaluation until we see these guys get more experience together. I think Bogey's presence is needed to help that along if for nothing else to just have a quality starting level vet for them to feed off of. If they can get value for him then I'm all for making the trade but if it's some throwaway 2nds, I just don't see the point.
-
Precisely and that's likely why Weaver won't trade him, because he doesn't want to just give him away for peanuts. What's the point? So why do you think he should moved if he has minimal value? Do you think he's detrimental to the team and they should just get rid of him?

With Jacobs and the lowest QB rating against stat, part of that is due to all the pressure the Lions have been getting on the QB forcing bad throws or no throws at all. Jacobs was getting torched in the first few weeks against better QBs and when the Lions pass rush was stymied. On the other hand, QBs don't even bother throwing to Sutton's side most of the time probably at least partly due to Jacobs being on the other side and partly because Sutton is good. Jacobs has played well the last few weeks but Moseley is a clear upgrade. Moseley might even be better than Sutton. -
I think Bogey plays the right way. He hustles on defense but he just doesn't have the footspeed/footwork to hang with most wings. Like I mentioned to @Betrayer I just don't think Weaver is getting good enough offers (any sort of 1st) to warrant moving him. He probably values his experience around the young guys and top notch shooting on a team of non-shooters (the starters in particular) to a underwhelming trade return.

"Any Given Sunday" as they say but not THIS Sunday my friend. The Lions will not only win but this won't be in doubt by the 4th quarter, book it. -

The Lions aren't losing this game, not THESE Lions. I'll actually be surprised if it's anything less than a double digit win. -

They aren't playing him much because the guys ahead of him have been stellar. Campbell will get more reps eventually but, right now, Anzalone and Barnes are playing too well. -

If you watch "Inside the Den", it seemed pretty clear that Gonzalez was their guy at 18. There was a collective groan in the room when the Pats swiped him. I'm sure Campbell will turn out to be a nice player but that could have been a real missed opportunity to shore up a vital position long term. Speak of CBs, Sutton hasn't gotten much talk but he's been playing like a legit #1 corner the first 4 games. How often do you see #1 in the picture when a receiver makes a catch? I could count the times on one hand it seems, most of the action has been down the middle or on Jacobs side. He's been forming a Sutton Island. -
Difference being that Lillard and Holiday had value while Bogey likely has very little. I don't think Weaver values 2nds or whatever crap is likely available for Bogey over his scoring and long range shooting to fit in with a young core for a year in which they're trying to take a step towards respectability.

Portland did stellar work to get that haul for an older, disgruntled player. 3 1sts with two unprotected and those late 2020s pick swaps could be really valuable, not to mention two good young bigs with varying skillsets and Brogdon could net another asset.

He's doing with Gibbs what Glenn did with Houston, trying to make them a more well rounded player by working on their weaknesses and not playing to their strengths. The sooner they realize that Gibbs is a weapon in space and not a high volume between the tackles runner and that Houston is a pure pass rusher and not a LB that drops in coverage the better off they and the team will be. They'll figure it out with him, just have to be patient. -

Sweet Justice, the suspension was BS anyway. Now they have 10 days to incorporate him into the offense. Can't wait to see him in action. -

I too was a bit frustrated with some of his calls especially when they had the big lead and got too conservative at times then had Goff passing on that final drive (before the kneel down drive) but no need to dwell on it, I'm sure Chiefs fans have issues with Reid's playcalling at times as well (going for it on 4th down and forever against the Lions for instance) so nobody is perfect. Too each their own though, I'm thoroughly enjoying the ride after 3 decades of suffering.
