  1. People that act like uneven weather is something new, or a Michigan thing. It's not. For as long as I can remember we had warm days sometimes in February and cold/snow in April and May. My wife has a framed cutout from a newspaper story she was in from like 1977 where the headline is "Cold day in June" and she's bundled up in a snowsuit because it was freezing temps. yes the overall trend is a thing but the day to day fluctuations are not.
  2. Still with the nickname for Ron.
  3. First woman to win a Republican primary.
  4. I share that concern but I am hopeful the Dobbs effect can offset it. I also am of the belief that the BLM and defund the police protests did some damage to Biden.
  5. The value in fixing it is less than the value of grievance politics. I’ve always been in favor of raising retirement age but now that I am 50… screw that. 62 here I come. I just checked my payout and my wife’s payout. I love the argument that “well your taxes are rally 13.5% because of the employer half. As if they would give that to us.
  6. The limit in 2024 is $168K. The most a person can pay in SS taxes is $10,453.
  7. I think a post Trump GOP does take a lot of the wind out of the sails of the crazy lot. Haley is banking on picking up the pieces when it shatters.
  8. What about Biden and his administration is bad that is on a level that Trump is and was? Biden isn’t talking about tearing down democracy. He’s not talking about imprisoning opponents.
  9. Id like to think I was looking at it when they snapped it. I get notified every time it flies over and run out to look if it’s not cloudy. that images was repositioned from its original on nasas site. The version I saw had lower michigan in the upper right.
  10. Does anybody else start to cough, or want to cough, when they see someone in movies up close smoking or doing something ilke putting out a butt in an ashtray? It gets me every time.
  11. So now they are treating their embryo persons with the same love they treat real kids who get shot in schools. Expendable for political purposes.
  12. I haven't laughed this hard in a long time.... it's so bad.
  13. Did I suggest otherwise?
  14. JD Vance
  15. Today is leap day. As a kid in Bible school I learned that the reason we have a leap year is because Joshua stopped the earth from moving for 24 hours during a battle. I believed that for a very long time.
  16. I worry less about that this time because he doesn't have the power of the office behind him.
  17. So you are saying that they'd do bad things, which will end up being good because the public will not go along with those bad things and in the end vote them out? Nuking the filibuster could be a good thing... one of those things you want but would rather the other side do it first 🙂
  18. We're going to miss Cocaine Mitch. Whoever it is will be far worse. It will be a big loss. Mitch is an asshole and I hate him for what he did regarding the SC picks, granted it showed he had balls of steel. He DGAF. But he also stood up for our Allies globally. This will be one more step towards maga and the makeup of the Senate is not shaping up to be a good thing for our country. If the GOP were in the minority I wouldn't care. But a Majority leader full on MAGA is not good.
  19. If we do have a disputed election and Trump is the winner, then we'll have Harris presiding over it. I'm sure some democrats would object and then we'd have the "both sides" argument going on.
  20. There’s morons here in Dearborn that now think he won’t be on the ballot in Dearborn in November.
  21. You can't go back too far though because then it becomes "Ancient texts" and I guess somehow not valid anymore... kind of like when we have to figure out when a fetus becomes a child, at some point in history it becomes a legitmate stake to land. But nobody can claim when that is. It's just a 'I know it when I see it" kind of thing.
  22. I'm no expert on these so I can't say one way or another...
  23. The genocide is actually the policy towards Israel, and it was laid out in this thread. The Arabs don't want them there so their goal is to remove them and wipe them out, by any means necessary. Israel's goal isn't to exterminate Gazans. Hamas's goal, and that of many of the Arabs in that region, is to exterminate Jews. They don't consider them legitimate people.
  24. Whoever it is will be worse. It will break the Senate.
