Oscar Noms are out: My predictions, since you didn't ask: Oppenheimer wins all the big ones. Gladstone Best Actress RDJ for Supporting Actor, but Gosling has a slim chance Robbie Robertson gets one for Score DeNiro is up for Supprting Actor too... imagine the stress of being the presenter and seeing the card say one of either Robert Downey Jr or Robert DeNiro. Both roll off the tongue so welll and if you say "Name an actor that starts with Robert" you will pick one of those two... and the last name starts with D. Could totally see myself mucking that up live in front of a a few hundred million people. Just take a deep breath first.

This is why I think these games and this run is the biggest sporting thing ever for the city and state. It already tops anything in other sports. You guys are all living it and experiencing something that might not be topped. Even if they win it all in another year. Sometimes the ride up is more fun. kind of like if the Tigers won in 2012 or 2013 it still may not have been more exciting for me than 2006. Maybe I am over reacting since it’s been 10 years since we’ve had anything to cheer

I’ve been trying to follow the **** show and I’m not sure they are going to get this sorted out.

yeah I think people like Haley lack the courage to say the right thing over the desire to lose votes. But Trump actually thinks the South was right. I think there is a difference. I don't want Haley to win. But I don't want Trump to win 10,000,000 times more and if I had to vote for her to help make that less likely, I would. She's on the outer bands of the normal Venn Diagram.

This sums up the man quite well.... stupid culture war and simply being wrong about something when trying to look good.

They tried that but then people start knocking.... and that makes it worse. And there's a gray area because some people who are regulars are late but it's not disruptive because they know the drill and are quiet about it and everyone recognizes the name. It's more about "new" people who need assistance or guidance. Some "regulars" are late because they might have been on the indoor track running or coming from another class where they are already warm. But too often it's just people you never see again doing it. I think there's a certain cultural thing at play too where everything is a suggestion. "Oh, they do it from 6 to 7? I'll go in and see what it's about...."

They should make a friendly bet, whoever loses has to a concert of songs from the winnner.... make it a PPV.

I’m ok with not pandering to a bloc of voters as intelligent and useful as those in the hard right. The radical left have disgraced themselves in this affair. There’s now a movement brewing in those circles that Oct 7 was either an inside job or… didn’t happen. Gee… who does that sound like? The hard left and hard right are two peas in a pod. Neither group cares about the country. They can go **** themselves.

What a cuck.

I believe Hamas was pushed into attacking on Oct 7 by the Russians. Israel’s response has pushed the left away from the Dems. In addition you have the Arab/Muslim population vowing to not support Biden. That could matter in a state like Michigan. there will be a marriage of convenience between the theocratic Christians and Muslims. They got in bed with Trump, they can get in bed with Muslims too as long as they both hate enough of the same people.

It’s why I quit political analysis type media. It doesnt matter. The Dems and republicans are now playing in different sports. One side is trying to govern under the old system and the other is simply about grifting. Those that did care about governing on the Republican side are retiring or losing primaries. The two party system as we know it is over. The republic only survives if the Dems hang on to enough seats nationally and locally to prop it up. The Supreme Court cannot be counted on to provide balance. If Trump wins we will start to see political assassinations and nothing will be done. We will have crossed a threshold. In some ways we have already.

I think it was simply a case of not coming to terms yet before the deadline and they have to exchange figures by that deadline, so they did, while still negotiating. The negotiations could have been over the nature of the club option and the salary for 2024 already decided. There could have no animosity or hard feelings beyond simple business between player and org like every situation. Just lawyers not in any big hurry. Fans created the drama because of the arb deadline to exchange figures which in their situation was probably a moot point.

Somewhere in there I get the impression that there that the difference wasn’t over $25K. I don’t know….

At a magazine nobody whining probably bought in 11 years.

yeah they are building a new hotel in Ann Arbor and throwing the SI name up on it as a brand. it stinks but among all the lamenting I see about it I have to ask when the last time anybody bought a magazine?

Yep. Newbies are always welcomed and we engage with them after to see how they liked the class. My son is a building supervisor where this gym is located and spends most of his day dealing with problems.

a bunch of her supporters showed up for a rally/meeting at our civic center before election day last fall and let me tell you... that was quite the rag tag bunch of clowns. You could spot all their cars in the lot by the # of stickers and signs and hand painted slogans. And they all dressed like that old salesman on TV with the question marks on his jacket. They were all over the age of 60 and looked like they do nothing but watch Newsmax and OAN all day long and listen to "patriot" radio. Very pale looking, like no vitamin D. It's a phrase that gets overused but it's very true here... the inmates are running the asylum. That's not a figurative statement. It's literary. The previous crazy ones are now the normal ones in this GOP matchup.

when they find themselves wrapped in the pretzel logic, like running into a fellow Baptist at a liquor store, they just ignore it, pretend it never happened, and move on to bashing gays or blaming women for wearing yoga pants.

You just unlocked some hidden memories. I didn't go to U of M but the whole concept of having 10-15 minutes between classes thing. One semester I thought it would be cool to just go 2 days a week, I commuted to Wayne State. So I had 4 classes on Tue/Thur, same type of setup, around an hour and 40 min each day. But I had them on opposite ends of the campus so I had just enough time to get to each one. Not sure what I did to eat. And this was in January-May. It was fun during the days like we've had this week. And books. We still used books in 1994. That bag was heavy. Carrying that while bundled up builds up a sweat.

People that don't respect start times. I participate in fitness classes 3-4 times a week. Nearly every session you have people showing up 5-10 minutes after the class starts. For newcomers it's more disruptive because they don't know what to do. So the instructor has to stop what they are doing/saying and tell them what they need to prepare. It's not just a random person here or there. It's consistent enough that it's a cultural/societal lack of respect. These are not 'drop in' situations where you can just come in any time during the session and do what you want. They are programmed classes with warmups, etc. It's especially bad for yoga classes. The lights are dimmed, it's peaceful... then here comes someone slamming the door making a bunch of noise. Just total disrespect.
