There was the scene in the bar when he was going over the details and Carl is about to say something and just says, paraphrasing, “ah screw it. Let’s check out that tan Sierra”. Was the $750K from Wade to cover his debt or a real deal he’d use the proceeds to cover? I use the line “you ask Stan Grossman, he’ll tell you” when trying to convince someone of a good idea I have.

“We’re not a bank Jerry” ”if I want bank interest on $750,000 I go to Midwest federal and talk to Bill Deel”

It’s something I never really thought about until now because it’s rare for our ball club to go thru arbitration. But the numbers submitted may not reflect the negotiation numbers. In arbitration the ruling is one or the other. Not a middle number. So both the club and player have to consider whether to push for their amount. It’s easy to imagine a scenario where a player says “ok I was asking for X but in front of a judge maybe I lower that in the hope of a favorable ruling. On the organization side you flip it. They offer an amount somewhere in between their number and the players number. So when we look at those and see “only $25K” it could have been a bigger gap if both sides moved.

Scarlett Johansson sued Disney over pay structure with Black Widow. Her pay was based on theater revenue. Then the pandemic hit and they did a dual release on Disney plus. They had a legal battle. After that was done she’s producing things for Disney. It’s business. They can separate the two.

sure with Mize it's a small gap but add up those small gaps among several players and you have a big gap. I'm very pro player on these kinds of things. In this case I'm just pushing back on narratives that to me are unfounded. By assuming the org should always bend to the player automatically gives the player the upper hand and puts them in a position to ask for more. If an org says X, then the player can say "Well, let's make it X plus Y" and the org should bend just to be nice? Casey Mize busted his ass and did everything the Tigers asked because they are paying his salary and he wants to recover and get a large deal down the line. Le'ts not pretend he's doing them favors by doing that. He's doing his job and got paid to do it.

and it's only $25 for Mize too. I think people over react to these things. I doubt Mize batted an eye over it. They won't go to arbitration.

just to play devil's advocate..... why is it always incumbent on the org to show loyalty to the player by giving in? He didn't play for almost 2 years. He got paid to rehab. Yes, it's contractual that he gets paid but these proposals are very close so I don't see the logic in blaming one side for not caving. It's business. It'll be forogtten in 6 months.

this reminded me of something a friend shared with me. She has another friend who is a sex addict. I asked what the meant. This lady would go after anybody, anytime. Like the UPS driver at work in a stairwell. It's crazy. It's not sexy at all from how she described it. She's in therapy. She had printouts of all the **** pics men would send her and she would rate them and catalog. This lady is also, otherwise, a massive germaphobe. That's what addiction is. It's not just being horny and wanting some. This is where conversations go during 10 mile runs week after week after week.

I forgot I blocked all variations of her name on twitter.

depends on which "negative" stuff you refer to. Was a drug abusing addict with a penchant for hookers? Did he use his dad's name for connections? Not sure anybody is doubting that. But somehow the GOP thinks that's relevant. It's not. He's not a government official. He's not on a ballot. He doesn't have a securit clearance. They've not given him any special treatment. It's just catnip for the uninformed and ignorant base. I think even Fox is getting fed up with them.

anytime we budget a head we use close to that figure. It’s not their salary but the total cost involved of having an employee or consultant/contractor. It’s just for very high level ballpark estimates.
-
any links to reference that? I'm curious. I've not be on much other than this site.

Playing for the Astros I think he has a shot. Obviously he has to be healthy. I wouldn't put it past him to keep playing. He's made no secret Nolan Ryan is his hero and he played until 46.

Verlander has a very good shot at 300 Wins. When Cabrera got 3000 I looked at the list at the time and it looked like nobody active has a chance. Altuve maybe, if he stays healthy and wants to play longer.

I wouldn’t recognize a single song by her but I love what she’s done. Her tour was great. Seeing the passion and joy she brought to so many was heartwarming. Even better than that is watching all the bros and MAGA jag offs freaking out because she invaded their NFL. I’m here for it. She will make them all her bitch. She’s got the power and insecure little men can’t handle it.

$150M seems like chump change for sure.

The designer of that set negotiated a royalty for every episode. A decent one too. When the bosses found out later they were not happy about it.
-
If you assume a cost of $200K per person, including salary, benefits, taxes, that’s $7.4M a year. I would think that more than pays for itself with average results.

sometimes there are questions you don't want asked because you are afraid of what the answer will be. Alito and Thomas would support it out of pure spite, "Sure why not. They're jerks anyway and I got this RV I gotta pay for". Gorsuch would go all libertarian and involve some obsure theory that sounds fanciful and quote something from a Greek philospher in 383 B.C.E. Barret would just say "Well that's what God wanted, it's in Revelations." Kavanaugh is like "Dude... what? Ok sure...." then belch and grab someone's butt.

"It's relevant that I was impeached, therefore I shouldn't be prosecuted" "What about the argument for no conviction during impeachment because prosecution was always there as a possibility?" "Impeachment is not relevant"

I checked their award summary on IMDb and it’s mostly designated as comedy but a handful of events call it a comedy. The Emmys called it comedy.

I thought about it last night and concluded that if there’s no murder or sex scenes, not just references, and it has some funny bits, then it can qualify. Does the GG decide these things or is it submitted by the show? Something to look up.
