  1. I didn’t like the clock initially but mid season someone at a game asked me about it and I realized I forgot all about it… so that’s good. I like the playoff games ending about 25 min earlier. you are not the old guy. I come across them in numerous Facebook group the site pushes to me and it’s amazing how many still go on about wins and RBI and make fun of todays pitchers being soft and not as good as Nolan Ryan and how it is a travesty he never won a cy young and why isn’t Pete Rose in the HOF because of all the steroids today and these Mexicans are ruining things with their showboating.
  2. I feel about it like I do when there’s extreme weather conditions but they keep playing. Both teams are abiding by same rules and conditions but the fabric of the game shifts and you make luck too much of an element. And has it even been shown yet to reduce long inning games? But having said that I hate the banning of the shift more.
  3. Regarding the Miggy deal in hindsight. Trying to be as objective and contextual… knowing what happens would you as a Tigers fan make that deal in 2007, or be happy about it, if Cabrera was already signed to a contract paying him what he eventually got? If Florida had signed him jn 2006 to a deal until 2023?
  4. I wonder if this is compelling enough for Nate Silver.
  5. I don't know if it was original run or not, but that episode was on the first night my wife was in the hospital after my first son was born, she'd had a C-section. She was sleeping and I was watching it on those little TV monitor things. It was also the day that the SC ruled for Bush in the 2000 election.
  6. Tatis's contract doesn't get crazy until his age 30 season, 2029. Then you have 6 years of a guy maknig $36M. I'm over that as a fan. I'm with Ed.... I'll take the risk in now knowing if he can be all time great because his issues so far are not worth the gamble.
  7. The first Red Wings game seemed very intrusive with the ads.... Having them is one thing but digitally changing them during play is distracting, which I guess is the point obviously. It's sensory overload trying to follow the puck and players then other things are blinking and flashing. When I do sit and watch a game I'm usually playing a game on my tablet or browing my phone.
  8. That's the "crazy thing" you are referring to in the post prior. Have you seen PBA lately? Like the bowling thing? Gimmicks to draw viewers doesn't work. A 23 year old isn't going to suddenly watch a baseball game because of something due to the broadcast or delivery. There's a definite line that exists where viewing habits changed permanently. I'd say those 40 and over... the era before On Demand and later DVR, then streaming, became prevalent. Until then you watched what was on. You were spoon fed. Yes you had 100 channels but it was mostly crap and your TV viewing was based on the same 10 channels. You had the 3-4 local channels, TNT, TBS, ESPN and some others depending on your tastes. That was when A&E and Discovery showed quality programs. Pre reality TV. If you were of viewing age in that environment then you still watch TV the old way. After that, the viewer is in total control. They won't watch a 3 hour game unless they are an absolute die hard of the team, like college football fans are. Otherwise they just see a recap video on Tik Tok or just see references to the game's key moments. The younger people are not perceptive to being a captive audience like that. This isn't a criticism, just reality. Last week I asked my son what network the Michigan game was on, he said NBC. My mother in law was there and said "Oh, channel 4..." My son had no idea what that was. He doesnt think of channels that way. Fox 2 isn't Channel 2, NBC isn't Channel 4, or ABC channel 7. To him it's 232 or just the tablet icon on the guide when he clicks "Sports" and that's the game listed.. it could be on Telemundo and he wouldn't know the difference. It just says Michigan.
  9. After I do the final grass cut in the back tonight and the wife goes to Windsor.... I know what I am doing tonight. Start a fire, get some beers..... what can go wrong?
  10. I can see a scenario where deals are cut to ask certain questions so POTUS is instructed to call on them at some point. But I can’t see a normal journalist agreeing if they know that’s the only questions. It’s fiction sure but the show did have former WH staff as writers. On the season 2 finale of the west wing Bartlett was to call on a certain reporter first in order to help calm things down initially (whether he was to run again after revealing he concealed MS). I won’t spoil it. That run of episodes is the greatest thing ever on network TV.
  11. The new speaker once said mass shootings are the result of no fault divorce and teaching evolution in schools.
  12. https://nypost.com/2002/07/18/tigers-on-offensive-fire-back-at-judge-in-airline-porn-suit/?utm_source=url_sitebuttons&utm_medium=site buttons&utm_campaign=site buttons check out Higginsons comments. Mike Ilitch owns both the Tigers and Red Wings; the Red Wings’ $63 million payroll is the second-highest in the NHL, trailing only to the Rangers, but the Tigers’ payroll is in the bottom third in baseball. “Ain’t much I can do about it. He’s the owner. It’s his money; he can spend it however he chooses to. We’re all making good money, so just deal with it. When he gets ready to spend and get a competitive team on the field, he’ll do it,” Higginson said. “All these others clubs had the same opportunity. These guys got money: They just don’t want to spend it. “They’re just sitting around waiting to get some new labor deal that works in favor for them while this guy over here [George Steinbrenner] don’t wait around for nothing; he sees an opportunity and capitalizes on it. He wants to win. Some of these other guys aren’t trying to do it.
  13. That’s borderline assault.
  14. The Ukraine funding is a huge wedge issue in the Arab/Muslim world. It's because Zelensky is Jewish. I'll say it again.... that community is totally brainwashed. They think what happened on Oct 7 was fake or done by Israel.
  15. I just see her as a modern David Bowie... appearance is part of the art form. Not everyone has to like the expression. In terms of pure music she has talent and chops. She wears costumes. But so does Brandi Carlisle and Amanda Shires (both of which I saw on display at the R&R HOF 3 weeks ago).
  16. I've gained a lot of love for her and P!nk over the last few years. They are bad ass.
  17. Good one. I also hate it when they talk too fast. I watch a lot of recap videos for Star Wars and Marvel stuff and it's like... dudes... just slow down. Breath. It's ok to have a little bit of a pause between sentences as well. Stop editing it all out.
  18. Speaking of Lady GaGa. She sings along with Lukas in this song, which is great. If you haven't seen the newer A Star is Born, you must. His band is Cooper's backup in the film.
  19. Like anti-semitism, distrust of the medical industry is something where the extremes on right and left meet up. Look at RFK Jr for an example.
  20. I'm waiting for the inevitible "Ratings are down this year" It happens every year.
  21. This looks very ****ing bad.
  22. No. Don’t know. Yes. Don’t know. getting physical is a broad term. Punching? No. But enough of a thing to attract eyeballs.
  23. It's especially rich given the plea deals we've seen the last week or so.
  24. Based on what we saw at the Beetlejuice play, she likes to play with junk.
  25. there's gossipy stuff about a former travel secretary. This person was an assistant Clubhouse Mgr (visiting), then got promoted. When Verlander dumped his HS sweetheart (after buying her a house), for Kate, she began dating this person, I think he even moved into the house. JV tried to get him fired. Doug Fister got involved about the unfairness of it all. Some suggest that's why Fister was traded so abrubtly. I know the guy's name but won't say it publicly. It's gossip so take it with the appropriate grains of salt. This may have been something I read from a noted jerk on twitter that isn't around anymore. Or I might have gotten it from someone I know who's connected. (I got dope on Al Sabotka's issues with the Red Wings too).
