  1. and he's actually a good mayor notwithstanding. If it wasn't for this issue I'd be fine with him. He is very engaging with the community, responds to things quickly like trash pickup delays. City services are better. He brought in a lot of younger people to head the departments rather than those who have been around for 25-30 years. The budget is balanced yet we have more stuff going on now. In our rec center where I work out, the area with the bikes, treadmills, and weights, faces a giant wall of glass where on the other side is the pool. "A few people" complained that they didn't like being "stared at". So they put up a protective barrier over the glass, with a map of all the city rec facilities. Everyone hated it. Made the room look smaller, blocked out natural light, etc. Every day the rec director got complaints about it on his voicemail, he would forward to the mayor. (I know this because my son works there). I complained. His words were "a few people didn't like the glass". It's been that way for 20 years since it opened. It was nice to walk by to know how crowded the pool was. A parent could work out and their kids could swim, and they could see each other. We suspect that it was "religous" in nature. To his credit the mayor took it down after about a month.
  2. I agree with that. You don't build bullpens. They just happen. And they don't last.
  3. our mayor had a tweet about Latimer... which someone said they can't wait to retweet it after he wins by 20.
  4. The thing with the bullpen usage... this team and org is not in a position to have guys set in roles. Nobody is good enough to claim one. You have to find out who can play and who can't. Part of that is putting them in positions to succeed or fail. They are the ones taking the test, not AJ HInch or Chris Fetter. It's not a board game. The pieces are the ones who have to execute.
  5. I haven't been paying attention so where is AOC on the whole Gaza thing? Is she part of the crazy bloc?
  6. I clicked on a poll via a text message and they was one of the questions. I inconsistently answered all the questions. Very obvious what their leanings are.
  7. I see a lot of fans at Comerica wearing the gear and I'm 50 years old and probably not their demograhic so... I just chalk it up to something not meant for me, and I ignore it. I do enjoy seeing all the older "boomer" fans bitch about it on social media though.
  8. Good to have you back! Glad you found us. Stick around.
  9. They also weren't as good. I'm not saying that because they didn't win a WS, but just in terms of record. They never had home field advantage in their playoff years except for the 2006 WS, which they got because of the ASG. They sort of stumbled into the playoffs in 2012, they were tied with Chicago with about a week left and they fell off a cliff. Teams like Oakland and Baltimore had better records during the run. But I did enjoy the recent run more because I was only 10 during the summer of 84 and most of the games were not on TV and I was busy playing with my friends. The atmosphere and reach of the recent era was larger. Nothing beat a weekend night at Comerica Park when they were riding high.... it was a party.
  10. I recall at the time last week that there was a very specific reason they did it at that time but dont remember what it was. Either weather or light related.
  11. No they are not. I think this is an over reaction. I don't see it as much differen than having your birthday party at McDonald's. Kids get attached to brands. You ever work at a fast food place back when they made us wear hats? Ever put a had on a 7 year old kid and see their face light up? "I work at KFC now!!!!" The kids aren't cooking food or taking orders. Representatives for the brand did say, however, that campers are not doing the work of team members as part of this program, adding that Chick-fil-A employees serving as counselors will not engage in their usual tasks during camp and will instead do activities with campers. This is not the first time the chain has hosted a summer camp. A Houston-area Chick-fil-A started its still-running experience six years ago with activities like bingo and trivia.
  12. Maroun's pockets run very deep. It will be interesting how the traffic plays out. The reason he owns his bridge is because he owns his trucking companies so he gets that revenue. The new bridge on the canadian side is linked right up with the 401, that was the point, keep them out of downtown. Will that family send their trucks to the new bridge? Should save about 25-30 minutes I would think. I can't wait to run across it.
  13. It’s fine to question it. But some act like Chris Ilitch doesn’t want to spend money and Scott Harris is timid. I’m not saying you think that but to those who do I offer up Colt Keith.
  14. Until the other team stops swinging at pitches then pour it on.
  15. Especially when in the previous page people wondered why the org signed Colt Keith. So is Chris Ilitch afraid to spend money and “Scotty boy” as some on twitter call him afraid to make bold moves or not? Because I can’t keep up with the narratives that just come out of peoples butts.
  16. I know of several racist MAGA types that were very anti Kwame… so… not sure on that appeal. And I don’t know he has much sway in the black community either.
  17. I see it more as he was a useful idiot to them and now his use is diminished. As said before, he had some valuable people around him, like the Treasury Secretary.
  18. I'm warming up to @Edman85's theory that Trump being tied to his trial in NY helped him as it kept him busy and away from events like this.
  19. Waving our “Scott Harris and AJ Hinch are not the problem” signs.
  20. Tigers are winning so nobody's posting.
  21. judging relievers on ERA?
  22. People here think Harris shoud figure out a way to trade our crap for good players though.... I'm just following along.
