So here's some useless trivia for you. In the movie Apollo 13, Jim Lovell, played by Tom Hanks, the mega star, says "Houston we have a problem". In reality this is how it played out and what the quotes were. Jack Swigert, "Ok, Houston, we've had a problem here" Then the CAPCOM asks him to repeat what he said, then Jim Lovell comes on and says "Ah, Houston.... we've had a problem". Similar to Empire Strikes Back and the I am Your Father quote that is misquoted. Carry On.

This is weird. I'm working from home and have it on both TV's. In the TV in my office, I use a roku streaming stick and the Xfinity app, no cable box, but I can hear the TV in the main room. There's different commercials between the ABC on the box and the ABC on the streaming stick, both being Xfinity broadcasts. Maybe the box is market specific and the stick is generic.

agree. All of my bashing on Pete is centered around his gambling on baseball and the reds and his lack of contrition and remorse and repeated denials. I don't think about the other stuff. Not dismissing it but I don't have the energy or desire to litigate every famous athlete or entertainer's behavior.

So... is ABC going to air the game or the Israel/Iran coverge?

The thing with Rose and the rape.... where do we draw the line between the people in our chosen hobbies and their personal life? Should I quit listening to Led Zeppelin and Elvis and perhaps Don Henly and pretty much every rock star into the 00's....? Should I never watch Chinatown or The Usual Suspects or the X Men movies? Rape of this nature (meaning "consensual" underage sex, I put it in quotes because legally you can't consent if underage) in entertainment was massive and touches a lot of people who's work we love. This is not meant to be a rhetorical question and I don't pretend to know the answer. Just throwing it out there that if someone wants to praise Pete Rose the baseball player and doesn't feel the need to ignore his athletic feats I won't hold it against them because I still listen to Led Zeppelin and all of that other stuff.

I'm not sure where I first heard it but the hope is one day we'll look back on gambling and sports like we do when we see old photos, even from the 90's, with a big Marlboro ad in the background on the scoreboard.

Guys like that are like minor league filler. You need people on the ML roster and I like they are trying to give fans as presentable of a product as they can while figuring out if the kids can perform, rather than just let a bunch of kids go out there and flail about. And like you say, maybe you can get a player back out of it to help you later on. Having a "lean" 70 win season is ok every once in a while while you retool the roster but this org at this time and place can't do that.

In a meeting yesterday when we were done with the topic, my boss asked "Anything else to discuss...." then it led to some personal stuff and I threw out "Well the Tigers play the next two days at 2:30...." and he got the hint and said "So your availability will be limited?" I'm so grateful to have a job like this where they just trust us to do our jobs. It's only about an hour early for me anyway so I can "make it up" at the front end.

This is interfering with my half marathon training ,being at 2:30.

There’s really no easy mechanism to put him in the HOF. These things have to happen: baseball has to take him off their list if that happens then he’s technical eligible. But that still leaves it up to two HOF committees. One to put him on the ballot and another to vote him in. If baseball leaves him on the list then the HOF would have to change their rule they had in place since 1991. Then the votes again by the committees. There’s even less of a chance the voters would vote for him if he’s still on baseballs list. MLB doesn’t run the HOF. There’s no magic wand that can be waved to just say “put him in” The HOF is a non profit with rules and bylaws that have to be followed. the media can whine all they want but it will never happen.

I don't know if it's true, Kris said he didn't remember it but he forgets things (He was misdiagnosed with Alzheimer's and Dementia and it was Lyme Disease) but his wife remembrs things and she relayed it.
