I haven’t been able to find anything that makes sense of that. Are they knee deep in it and this is their way of covering their ass? Or trying to? I don’t see how they just come to that conclusion now.

LOCKOUT '22: When will we see baseball again?
oblong replied to Motor City Sonics's topic in Detroit Tigers
I wonder how many casual fans know or care that it’s a lockout or a strike. I suspect the more casual the more likely they think it’s a strike and the players are selfish and “just want more money. Kaline refused a raise you know?”- 1,851 replies

LOCKOUT '22: When will we see baseball again?

Frankly, as a ticket holder, I pretty much write off early April games. It's cold. They moved the times up to 6:40. It might snow. There's hardly anyone there so the atmosphere is dead. Even on nice days you get that thing where you feel fine in a light jacket when you leave but by 8:30 when the sun sets you need a hat and gloves. I'm turning into an old man where I ask "Why am I sitting here freezing my ass off when I could be home?" You could say the same for the last 2 weeks of September, outside of playoff chases. I don't like extreme weather games. Opening Day is fun because it's all new but I'm done with the party atmosphere. Nothing cool about watching a lady sit on a curb crying because she's drunk and can't find her friends or listening to a bunch of frat bros swearing. Also in terms of overall sports appeal in April don't you have the NBA and NHL Playoffs in full swing? So is it worth it to the league to fund those games? Jeez..... don't let Manfred read this.- 1,851 replies

I remember Art Regner had him on his show after he'd been let go by WXYT. he lamented some big news story at the time that he missed out on... not sure if it was the OKC bombing.... It was around that time, mid 90's. Don't think it was Lewinsky.

Man... David Newman was so so good... he would speak off the cuff in a way that would take us a few days to write ourselves. So intelligent. I loved his movie quizzes. He was the very best of talk radio.

MAGA upset at the halftime show, predictably.

I go by what Jim Leyland said.... managing in the AL was harder than the NL because once the game starts he said the biggest decisions a manager makes is bullpen usage. In the NL those decisions were often made for you by the pitcher's slot in the lineup.- 1,851 replies

pitching has changed so much over the last 40 years with advances in medical knowledge and training. I'd rather they focus on their mechanics and staying healthy rather than worrying about swinging a bat.- 1,851 replies

I started a spreadsheet where I was tracking him and Aaron at their respective ages and he was just a hair behind him until that time he tore his bicep in June. Thats the thing so remarkable about Hank. The numbers he put up in his 30s.- 1,851 replies

So we will have a delayed season for less than the price of a Rick Porcello on each team. Are there any differences of principal rather than degree?- 1,851 replies

I was thinking about this but I’m not sure this would play out so sympathetic to the GOP and hurt Biden. Its easy when it’s in Canada. But start blockading major roadways here?
-
Living where we do obviously i know a lot of Canadians like I’m sure you all do. I don’t know a single one who supports them.

Remind me when blm and antifa shut down a major international border crossing for multiple days.

Doesn't matter. As long as the audience believes you then the point is valid. All 38,000 people watching whatever network that is now believes there's no investigation.

I was a teenager from 1986-1993..... But to me a teenager is really the years 13-16 ish. After that when driving you become more of an adult, more likely working a part time job, etc. My favorites that brief time period that gets me on a nostalgia push are Motley Crue (Theater of Pain), Beastie Boys (License to Ill), Run DMC (Raising Hell) , Metallica (And Justice For All) , and Iron Maiden (Somewhere in Time and Seventh Son). Those are tapes I wore out. Of course in our era music was also something you watched. I have more memories of watching Tom Petty videos rather than listening. If you knew a video was on all the time then I wouldn't feel the need to buy the tape. MTV was always on.

I was in college and walking down an outdoor concourse and a group of guys walked past me and were talking and one blurts out "Did y'all see what the Tigers did over the weekend". It always stuck with me because I was excited to see people talking about them.

Plus Ted and Lindsay's heads would get in the way.
