  1. I don't know off hand. I would look around the league at similar players.
  2. Likely at least $50K, which is the cost of a waiver claim.
  3. "Bigbie had a huge season and his underlying batted ball data is ridiculous. He is deceptively strong and had a hard-hit rate over 50% despite his skinny build. Bigbie looks beatable inside, around his hands; he sprays a ton of doubles-worthy contact just inside the opposite field foul pole. I came away from his Fall League look skeptical that he’ll continue to hit this well, and am pretty resolved that he can’t play center field. This is me leaning heavily on my eyeball look; Bigbie’s underlying Statcast-style data is so strong that I’m sure some teams value him as a prospect solely for that."
  4. Media conflating men's and women's basketball records. Nothing at all against the women's game, but the winningest women's coach is an apple and the winningest men's coach is an orange. Stop comparing them on the same scale.
  5. I kinda feel like the Bucs should have gone for that one. The Lions can ice this.
  6. I registered with the GOP last week so I can vote for Nikki in a closed primary in March. The day after, I will go back to NPA until evaluating the general primary in August. I do not plan on voting for Haley in the general, but I do wish the Republican Party can excise the crazy for the good of the country.
  7. If they decline the option, he goes to arbitration. In other words, if he has a good year and would get more than 3.1 without an option, he's getting 3.1 If he pulls a Turnbull, they decline the option and go to arb to get a 1.5ish deal.
  8. Keep this one saved for when people complain about Biden losing it.
  9. He tied it to capping his salary next year, and therefore 2026 as well.
  10. File and trial has spread significantly the last few years. It used to be only a few teams, but others have caught on. Likely just stuck an intern on to study and found it was worth it. Throw in some front office cross-pollination, and here we are. Regardless, the discourse around this whole deal has been frustrating. So many making the assumption that they were $25K apart when the deadline hit and getting their shots off without taking the step back to understand, and no authoritative media to dig around and find that Mize changed his offer to set them straight.
  11. It's a philosophy teams stick to in order to squeeze players, basically. It's not legally binding, but certainly kills your leverage if you cave.
  12. File and trial doesn't rule out long term deals, which this technically is.
  13. The world ending whenever there are media layoffs.
  14. Gym related pet peeves peek in January. I assume the timing here is not a coincidence.
  15. It's common down there. "Favorite to sign" is a common euphemism for agreed to a contract before eligible.
  16. We say this like Al was in the room beyond the first pick. I will say this for Al, even if his hand was forced, the player development shift did start under his watch. Now, whether there was some lip service and if it was a half measure is a legitimate question. Player development has been a definite emphasis for Harris and company to the point where they deserve a lion's share of the credit, imo. They've gone all in, whereas Avila dipped his toe in the water enough to give the veil of an upgrade, but still made sure to tip his hat to the old school folks. There are plenty of quotes to that nature. I suspect this was a big reason for the disjointed 2022. Besides, a strong player development reputation does help in the draft. Say you get to the third day and you have a sleeper you like you want to take in the 13th round. Your area guy calls to make sure he will sign for $150K, but he says no. The Dodgers, with a strong player dev reputation, take him and sign him for $150K instead.
  17. Badge of honor if they are going to lather Ozark in praise.
  18. Can I solicit advice? RSS... I'm trying to ditch social media and (gulp) forums as means for news aggregation. Reason being: election year upcoming, trying to focus on news instead of hysteria around it. Does anybody have any tips for using RSS or specific apps? Just kind of curious. I've started by trying to set up Tigers RSS's (which I know is what MWG does here), but Gannett (Detroit News and Free Press) and MLive don't work with RSS.
  19. https://www.jacksonville.com/story/news/columns/nate-monroe/2024/01/16/after-iowa-caucus-loss-the-reckoning-for-florida-governor-ron-desantis-is-here/72237297007/
  20. Means they have agreed to a deal but can't be signed until next Jan 15.
  21. Be careful following Doyle. Plagiarist shiester.
  22. My understanding is Prime takes over local streaming rights, formerly on Bally Plus. I wouldn't be able to stream Tigers games in Florida. It would also not come with normal Prime membership.
