  1. Little known fact: cold whether doesn't cause illness. Or at least the cold itself. Being indoors around others, which cold weather causes people to do is the culprit.
  2. I'm coming from Jacksonville, so I've got to take I4 from Daytona or back roads.
  3. Why I don't even bother with Spring Training anymore... I've dealt with rainouts the last 2-3 trips down there, erratic backfield schedules, traffic and long distance between sites. Pass.
  4. There's a reason Shep wasn't getting national games (Although he did do a couple B1G basketball games back early in the season when there was football and even volleyball overlap)
  5. I know this is a joke, but his peripheral duties are pretty much limited to... College basketball on Fox/FS1 (Mostly Big Ten, Big East, Pac 12). He did do a women's game last week, but that is because Fox is really publicizing Caitlin Clark. They have put their top crews on some Iowa WBB games. Fox/FS1 national baseball coverage. Most Saturdays, shifting to Thursdays once football season rolls around. Fox college football coverage. Saturdays in September. Westwood 1 National Radio Coverage NCAA Tournament in March. So we likely get Dickerson on TV most Saturdays (Maybe Friday if it is a tough travel situation), and then toward the end of August on Thursdays and Saturdays. The Tigers have a few national games. May 6, FS1 vs. Guardians (not exclusive) May 20, FS1 vs. Royals (not exclusive) July 8, FS1 vs. Guardians (not exclusive) August 18, ESPN (Little League Classic vs. Yankees) Plus probably 2-4 Apple games. I believe the Peacock deal wasn't extended. I don't believe the weeknight FS1 games are exclusive, meaning they are available on BSD.
  6. Based on the Peacock game he did with Morris, he will lift with aplomb.
  7. Cody's cohost has gotten worse. Almost unsubscribe from feed bad.
  8. Tony Phillips was what we thought McKinstry was back when he was leading the league in OBP in May. Games started by position with the Tigers LF: 201 2B: 188 3B: 134 RF: 77 DH: 61 CF: 32 SS: 18
  9. Anybody who tries to equivalence Biden and Trump's classified document issues need to go read Trump's indictment.

  11. Kagan too... I could see this being unanimous.
  12. And for Fangraphs projections, playing time projections are here: https://www.fangraphs.com/depthcharts.aspx?position=ALL&teamid=6#RP
  13. Well, Pecota doesn't use Roster Resource. This is the Pecota playing time projections:
  14. There's plenty of reasons for projections to be off the last few years. The "player development revolution" if you want to call it that increases variability. Small samples of 2020 are throwing things off, as are the injury rate increases in that time (which also affects 2021-23 sample sizes some). Also, some teams are better at finding pitch-level matchup splits to exploit, which I'm sure the projection systems may not be able to tease out, and apply when they change teams or have to play less advantageously out of necessity. I do think PECOTA is the best, because I have been impressed with some of the WOWY (with our without you) techniques they have shown that allow them to tease out some matchup and weather data and really cut through the fat at the minor league level.
  15. FWIW, I remember PECOTA being very very low on Maton heading into last year's season. Edit: I just looked it up. He actually exceeded his PECOTA last year. I stopped buying their annual, but their website archives their player comments. Last year's on Maton was spot on: "When Maton hits the ball, he can really hit the ball—he sees four-seamers expertly and crushes them with abandon. The problem, unfortunately, is what happens the rest of the time. He chases breaking balls and off-speed pitches on both sides of the plate, and he strikes out a ton. Thus, he's a much better hitter when he gets ahead in the count, but he tends to fall behind far more often. His defensive versatility is an asset, but he isn't elite at any position. Maton provides flexibility off the bench, but his shortcomings on both sides of the ball prevent him from offering a whole lot more than that."
  16. Ah, the annual tradition of PECOTA spoiling the kool-aid fans have been drinking all offseason.
  17. Banner week for the House GOP chuckle****s.
  18. It is worth noting the two did overlap for a hot minute in the halcyon days of late June 2020.
  19. Never been diagnosed, but watching Community back in the day and the heavy implications the Abed character had this and me seeing a lot of myself in that character made me think...
