    Here's what I don't get... Vance claims to be from Appalachia. I grew up 40 minutes from where he did... maybe 50 minutes. Either way, the area between Dayton and Cincinnati is not Appalachia. That's midwestern suburbia.

    Bad example. Maton was sent down in July and DFA'ed over the offseason. Harris and Co. were actually pretty prompt in not doubling down there.

    I mean if the price is right, pull the trigger. You don't turn down a king's ransom for Skubal out of some short sighted sense of pride. You also don't have any need to settle for a meh package because you need to trade him. He's got two more years of control.

    There's a golf term called a Fallwell. Pro golfers are usually paired in threes the first two rounds of the tournament. If two players have a great round, but the third is struggling and missing out on the fun, that is a Fallwell. On the other hand, if two players are struggling and one is having fun on his own, that is a Toobin.

    Just gaming this out. Next year is a Comp A pick, and some bonus odds in the lottery due to Oakland and Chicago not being eligible. It could be a lucrative draft.

    The 8th rounder from Regis U signed for 27.5k after phoning a friend and realizing being a millionaire isn't in the cards. But seriously, the way the draft pools works it makes sense to lock in your under slot picks first. That way if something falls through with them, your savings and denominator aren't hosed.

    Cross that too left-handed bridge when you get there. The odds of all of those players becoming MLB Regulars and all the current MLB LHH still being around is slim to none. Accumulate and develop talent and let the chips fall where they may.
