  1. Anyways, what is that old parable about first they came for them and I did nothing. Then they came for me... I think it is naive to think the PIF will stop at soccer, formula1, and golf.
  2. Welp, I'm a bit sick as the resident golf fan...
  3. More than anything, goes to show what we all expected, just how terrible and antithetical to our constitution those laws are.
  4. Take any injury news from McCosky with a grain of salt. But a stress reaction is just a minor stress fracture. But a stress fracture of the fibula is minor, just don't want to rush him back.
  5. No pun intended, but Brant Hurter seems to make sense on Tuesday. We will see though. Toledo's rotation is a wreck.
  6. From the rumors about Olympic Village, it wouldn't take much effort to just make it an Olympic Sport going forward...
  7. The more they look for, the longer it takes. The longer it takes, the less likely he is to face justice.
  8. The Baseball Prospectus Injury Ledger seemed to show about 4-6 weeks for a fibula stress fracture, but there's a large variance. https://www.sportsmedtoday.com/fibular-stress-fractures-va-214.htm Good info in the link above. The key is rest, otherwise you run the risk of recurrance, so while the injury is likely minor, shutting it down for a week or two and being conservative on the rehab is likely prudent. Kinda similar in that regard in a lot of ways to E-Rod's injury.
  9. McCosky still thinks Tommy John Surgery involves a strained nerve.
  10. I bundled my Athletic in with NYT. I'm okay paying that, but obviously it would go away if my income dried up. The bundle isn't a terrible deal, though. I don't use tooo many of their recipes on the cooking app (SeriousEats is my goto). Wirecutter is a pretty reliable reference for choosing what to buy as Amazon's algorithm has gone to crap... And I'll be damned if having a subscription to NYT hasn't helped me piece together some archived MLB Transaction logs I can't find anywhere else. Vannini got his start at Tigstown, actually.
  11. Fibula... Biiiiiiiig difference. The Tibia is weight-bearing. I bet Greene is back by the end of June.
  12. Parker bats left. Marisnick bats right. Vierling bats right.
  13. Granted, this literally just happened... But you take the platoon certainty the first 2-3 times through the lineup over the possibility of being exposed. And Greene's injury messed things up today.
  14. The Tigers are late to the heavy platoon party (and Sparky was early to it). Get used to it. The days of the same 9 guys starting a majority of games are over.
  15. Is there any proof that giving players reps helps eliminate platoon splits? And what is wrong with being a platoon player? That is the wave of the future as more and more data can be parsed. Put players in positions to succeed.
  16. There's a reason why Baddoo doesn't start against LHP.
  17. This move in particular? No. But upper level OF depth has been hampered some by injuries and JDavis's opt out. It doesn't surprise me a move was made to add another body to the mix.
  18. He's the only reliever in Toledo on the 40 man that didn't get lit up yesterday... In other words, his role is to be a fresh arm.
  19. Vannini is who I had in mind. Sending out clips and major plot points. He and a few other Athletic writers are really bad about gaming trending keywords. You will see them tweet out the name of an athlete who did something in a large sporting event, no context about what they did. Just the name. This is designed entirely to show up in trending searches and adds nothing to it.
  20. The obsession with Fulmer and Chafin goes hand-in-hand with the obsession with several other ex-Tigers. I don't know if it is just because the fan base has heard of them, but there's a reason the team has stunk for the past 8 years, so there's no reason for ex-Tiger to be a criteria.
  21. Sportswriters live tweeting and spoiling popular TV shows... all to show up in trending tweets and gain followers.
  22. "Have you heard of Henry Clay? He was the Great Compromiser. A good compromise is when both parties are dissatisfied, and I think that's what we have here." -Larry David
  23. I just remember I saw this sign on my bike ride last week.
  24. Yeah, aside from being white L/R multipositional guys, there is no comparison between Kelly and McKinstry.
  25. No bow, but he has always been on my radar (helped somewhat by the fact he was a COVID OOTP pickup of mine who produced). He popped up on an offseason "out of options" list I put together. People were over emphasizing a small sample of MLB stats as well as meaningless spring training stats. I did think his AAA numbers needed to be park/league adjusted, but knew there was something there and the vitriol and the "why not keep Harold" talk was hilarious at the time and moreso now two months later.
