  1. Don't want to take anything away from Bowers or Raffensperger and their testimony because the threats against them aren't any more acceptable, but there's a particular terror in hearing their accounts because they are not public figures. These are normal everyday Americans who, if they weren't in Atlanta, could be anywhere. I don't know how you can't be empathetic about that or be uncaring, but nothing surprises me much anymore.
  2. Just devestating.... normal people have paid the price for all the lies.
  3. The common theme in all of the testimony today: the mob being sicced on people for doing their jobs.
  4. His ill daughter that he spoke of passed away shortly thereafter.... spent the last couple of months of her life having to bear witness to the deranged mob.
  5. The last part where Bowers went through the abuse that him and his office have received..... yikes
  6. Could you imagine being spammed 18 times a day by Rudy Colludy?
  7. Ultimately the ceiling is higher for Baddoo, but as for this moment I stand by my comment. Some of what we have seen lately in Toledo has been encouraging, but they will want to see it sustained before he plays his way back into the conversation. Either way, I like Derek Hill and there are pieces of his game that are major league, but the bat doesn't do enough to stick. I'd rather see him before Willi in the outfield, but that may be about it.
  8. It also seems kinda early to compare ERod to Jordan Zimmermann.... yet people keep doing it anyway.
  9. I could see Akil and Daz Cameron being in a similar league mostly because Daz was starting to really show some promise before going on COVID IL, but I don't see how Derek Hill is ahead of Akil Baddoo simply based on the age discrepency and lack of bat to ball skills. He plays good defense and has a lot of speed, but aside from that, Hill hasn't shown to be much more than AAAA player.
  10. Seems like a big deal
  11. Probably not often. In Michigan terms, imagine this all transpiring in Lapeer or Adrian or some place like that. I know that the job is dangerous and I don't want to be too harsh on police, but the job is pretty attractive as well: it pays well, the benefits are fantastic. Even in states like Texas which are hostile to union membership, their ability to unionize is practically sacrosanct. Outside of maybe the fire department, they are the God's of civil service. They are valued far more than the guy who works for the Public Works department who keeps the water tap running or the the Parks Department employee who keeps the parks clean. But that level of value that they provide comes with the expectation that when the rubber meets the road, that they will put their lives on the line to take care of problems as they arise. And this was just a global failure all around, and hearing all the fallout from the event and how public officials are responding here locally, it is (correctly) delivering a blow to all the "thin blue line" virtue signaling that abounds here... the contours of the debate over policing after the George Floyd protests still exist to an extent, but I do think that the "police are never wrong" subtext that the "thin blue line" flags and decals convey is being challenged.
  12. That ball that Haase hit in the 7th being caught was pretty deflating. He tattooed that ball, just somehow found Verdugo's glove.
  13. Too close to take, kid
  14. Yeah, he has earned more runway with the bat...
  15. It will drive fans nuts, but he's managing this team more in terms of development than actually winning tonight. Although the 5th inning thing doesn't compute regardless. You're looking a gift horse in the mouth to send Faedo back out there after getting out of that self induced jam lol
  16. Yeah, I was fine with how last inning went, but bringing him back out for the 5th made no sense
  17. I think he was trying to challenge Faedo in that moment. It's risky. But in the context of a developing ball club, I am OK with it
  18. Really good AB from that young man (paraphrasing Jimmie P)
  19. Its only one run, but unlike earlier parts of the season, it felt like they would get that one in. that's the Greene Effect lol
  20. I can volunteer tmrw, fwiw
  21. Can Cash Considerations hit? lol
