  1. Oh, so it's just speculation. I thought you had a link to somebody in the know. If thats the case, I'm glad he didn't do it. If Melton stays healthy, he could be very good.
  2. Where did you hear that?
  3. Looking at these players stats at the time of the trades is the key. Using hindsight isn't really fair, it's small sample sizes of these players performing for other teams, against players we weren't facing. I couldn't find much evidence of Paddack ever being good, he was a bad pitcher on a bad team. Morton's best years were way in the rear view mirror. Montero surprised me, he did a pretty good job. Finnegan was an excellent pickup, until he got hurt. This off-season will show us how good Scott Harris is at making trades and signing free agents. This Tiger team is close to being really, really good. A top contender. We just need a couple (few) pieces to get us over the top. And it may not be fair to call out Harris. We don't know if he's allowed to spend the money that would be needed to acquire top talent.
  4. It wouldn't have cost up any of our top prospects. Scott Harris isn't strong making trades.
  5. Yes, the Tigers pretty much came out of nowhere after being sellers at the '24 trade deadline. As for keeping Skubal? I'm all for it, as long as they get some contact hitters for the lineup. Skubal had way too many starts where he had to try to be perfect because of no offense. Win a championship, with or without Skubal. I just would say it would be easier with him and a couple (few) free agents.
  6. I understand. His value is higher with control over a full season than it would be at the trade deadline when he's only a rental. And the Tigers may not trade him at the deadline if we're contending. The fans would scream bloody murder and for good reason. No, the only way the Tigers can move him is this winter. Or keep him, sign some other talent and make a run for a title? That would be my choice.
  7. Maybe theyll sign some good players after Miggy's contract comes off the books.....oh wait, that ship has sailed. 😅😅
  8. I don't have a problem with Skubal asking for $40 million per but 10 years? 6 years maybe.
  9. I read an interesting stat in today's Free Press. I'm not sure if it's accurate or not but it makes a good argument for signing him; With Skubal, the Tigers have advanced to the playoffs in back-to-back seasons. To get there, the Tigers went 42-20 in the 62 games started by Skubal - and were 131-131 in games not started by Skubal.
  10. Technically, Toronto and Seattle are playing for the American League Pennant. Divisional races are just one step towards a pennant.
  11. I bet the Tigers payroll is about to explode. Scott Harris tried to get by cheap the last couple of years with free agent pitchers but that money is off the books, Maeda and Cobb. Spend that money, and more, on a #2 and #5 type SP. Add it a couple bullpen arms, which is a crapshoot and then go after a RH 3rd base power hitter....Suarez?
  12. Both games tonight are upsets. Buffalo losing to Atlanta and Washington losing to Chicago. Da Bears helping the Lions. Hopefully they can beat Green Bay for us.
  13. Washington's uniforms tonight look like my DeWalt drill.
  14. October of 2022 was the last time the Lions lost 2 in a row. I mistakenly posted it was 2023. It's been 3 years, amazing.
  15. I would have lost that bet if I were a gambler. But...baseball...
  16. The Lions haven't lost 2 in a row since 2023? That's gonna be tested next week against Tampa . They're playing really good.
  17. I thought everyone knew the Tigers had an offer out to Bregman. He signed with Boston. Either Harris was given a chance to match Bostons offer or Boras just used the Tigers offer to get a better deal. Thus...Harris was either played or he was the victim of a very unethical agent. Either way, he should have given Boras a deadline to accept so he could move on to finding another 3rd baseman. But I get it, some people are happy with Harris. I'm just looking at it without rose colored glasses. Harris is flawed.
  18. So...what part of history do you prefer? Scott Harris made outstanding trades that turned us into a playoff team? Or he made screwd free agents signing that got us over the top? Whatever, he didn't do enough, obviously.
  19. I saw an article in Wired magazine a few years ago that gave reasons why officials give home teams calls, not unfairly but subconsciously. It feels good to them having people cheering for them. Just...human nature.
  20. That's on St Brown. It was very catchable.
  21. Reality....this Lions team is really, really good. No matter the outcome of any given game.
  22. I agree but it was a chance to help KC. We can put that dog to bed.
