I've read Tucker's name brought up a few times. While I would love to have him, I don't see the Tigers signing him for the money he would demand. Whether we extend Skubal or not. But until Tucker signs with a team, there's still a possibility...however remote.
-
I've heard some Tiger fans who say trade him and use that money to sign other players. The problem is, the Tigers wouldn't spend that money anyway. Heck, we're still waiting for them to use all of that money that came off the books from Cabrera. I'm starting to think maybe we should keep Skubal?
-
I always say the changes in bullpen usage is the biggest difference from 60+ years ago but the approach of hitters is also a huge change. Striking out used to be a much bigger deal, players were benched for striking out too much. But come on, 13 strike outs in over 650 at bats? Eye opening stat. He hit into 19 double plays..lol. Can you even imagine what kind of money he would make today?
-
So Skubal may get $40m per season? He started 31 games the last 2 seasons. That's almost $1.3m per start. And almost $13.000 per pitch. Rough estimates.
-
I looked up Harvey Kuenn's stats and found something amazing...in 1954, he had 656 at bats and struck out 13 times. That's a good week for Riley. 🤣🤣

Guesses; Colovito, Kuenn and Pudge 3 of them?

People can go position by position to compare the Tigers strengths and weaknesses against the top teams but that wouldn't turn out too good for us. This team has major weaknesses that can't be solved by signing 2 or 3 players or minor trades. It's not like we're two or three players away from being a serious championship contender. So yeah, we all have opinions. It's just my opinion is bringing in all of those horrible arms at the trade deadline did more harm than good. I really feel the Tigers would have been better off without Morton or Paddack. Would they have challenged the Dodgers? No, we're a half a dozen or so players away from competing with them. They're just in another class. Just make the playoffs and anything can happen? It sounds good but in the playoffs, weaknesses are exposed. So I repeat, at this point, it doesn't really matter.
-
Some people complain about how unfair the Dodgers are by spending a ton of money on all the best free agents. But in reality, they've done an outstanding job of picking the right players to sign. And a pretty good farm system. I really think they'll make a strong push for Skubal's services. The rest of the baseball teams don't stand a chance against such a well run organization that seems to have an unlimited amount of money. So yeah, we can discuss which players the Tigers should sign or trade for, but does it really matter?

Now it's only old people protesting? MAGA is desperate and I'm sure they're not looking forward to the midterms. Hopefully, democrats learned their lesson about moving at a snails pace and will quickly move to impeach every MAGA politician in sight. Deplorable traitors;
-
MAGA is butthurt and they've been making up lies about these rallies for over a week. Are they ignorant enough to believe somebody is paying millions of people to protest? All while keeping it secret so they can't prove it? I mean, just how stupid are the sheep who believe that nonsense?
-
Partially correct. If the democrats would have thrown that orange cheeto in prison, where he belongs, he would never have become the king facist. Good call. 😅😅
-
Keep the immigrants and deport MAGA;

If Skubal is so confident in his ability to stay healthy for 10 years, sign a 5 year contract for $200m. That way, in 5 years, he can get another 5 year contract at the going rate in 2031, It may be up to $50m or $60m per year, or more.

The announcer said Ohtani just had the best game in the history of the postseason. Ever. I mean, Reggie hit 3 home runs on consecutive swings but, well, he didn't pitch. Ohtani is...AI. 😅
-
They're a very good example of why a salary cap is needed. Level the playing field. Yeah, a great team on the field, a good farm system and unlimited money to buy every top free agent. Put Skubal on that team next. I know it can't happen but a fan boycott would be great.
-
It doesn't matter. Not even a little bit. The Dodgers appear unbeatable.
-
Well, 3/4 of a season is much larger than 1/4 of a season. Or, in Paddack's case, his entire career is a large sample size. He was decent his rookie season but stunk up a storm for several seasons with a bottom feeding team. Nothing that screams "we gotta get some of that." 😅😅
-
People who don't want a pitcher with a really good ERA because he didn't do as good as a pitcher with an ERA twice as high after being traded have much better hindsight.
-
-
So you wanna play baseball, huh?
-
Suarez with a home run. He hit 13 home runs with Seattle after the trade while hitting under .200? Did any Tiger hit 13 home runs after the trade deadline? Maybe Riley? MTS is gonna blow up when the Tigers sign him...🤣🤣🤣
-
Yeah, Maeda fell off a cliff. Not too many saw that coming. His recent stats before we signed him weren't like the stats of Paddack or Morton. Their demise was totally predictable and like others have said, we woulda been better off without them. Even if they didn't cost very much. And keeping Melton was a no brainer, he has the chance to be very good. But it seems like we may have been able to offer some other player(s) maybe?
-
Your insults really don't make much difference. Going after the best possible players is all I want. Not looking at the results 2 months later and forming an opinion. At the time of the trades, every Tigers player they got had horrible stats. Yes, Finnegan worked out but how about Paddack and Morton? Their ineffectivness cost us any chance at the division. And those results were more predictable than players we didn't get falling off the table.
-
Looking at the stats at the time of the trades? The Tigers only went after the cheapest and least desirable players they could find. Paddack? Really? A reject from a total bottom feeder of a team? I bet you were overjoyed that Harris hung onto 15 2nd base prospects. It gives you something to keep track of all summer...🤣🤣
-
The Tigers should have aggressively gone after players to improve our team last winter, this trade deadline and this winter. No more of these broken down and washed up lottery ticket type players. The pitchers they brought in this trade deadline cost us a chance at the division and the bye week.
