  1. I just saw Wednesday's match up. We face Tyler Alexander. Against Flaherty.
  2. I'm sure hitting coaches are working with him on that. At least, I hope so. He just needs to start producing. The guy could really make a difference, if he gets on base.
  3. Yes, he has one of the better OBP on the team, lead him off and put Greene second. But his stats on this team are a very small sample size. As well as not coming thru in the clutch, not in one game but in a few. I just don't see the same thing as you, I see a dead pull hitter that constantly shows no situational skills. OK, in a small sample size. Our very best team would have Meadows leading off. If only the guy could hit...
  4. You never know. He might start pulling the ball more and at least move a runner over. You don't need your best hitter hitting 2nd, you just need someone who can handle the bat. So far, I've seen Canha pull too many ground balls to the pull side at important, situational, times. Keith is worth trying, but so are a few other hitters. (Greene)
  5. Craig and Jason said a Cleveland/Detroit series will be huge. I thought..."yeah, for Cleveland"
  6. Dan had Craig's stupidity under control. Jason feeds into the moronic issues. Base hit for the Tigers and the announcers are busy talking about phone chargers. Who the hell cares? Get these washed up jocks outta the booth.
  7. I meant for the hitter. Some players are more comfortable hitting is different spots. You have no way of knowing how Keith would do hitting 2nd, he's never done it at the ML level. But whatever, like I said, it really doesn't matter. With the roster Harris has built, we'll be battling to play .500 all season.
  8. We don't know how Keith would perform hitting 2nd. Position in the lineup makes a huge difference. But whatever, the Tigers front office just wants to field a team, outcomes make no difference. We're not expecting to win.
  9. But what the ER? Does the team win or lose? Some stats are pretty meaningless, sorry sabers...lol
  10. Batting 2nd? Or overall? And past performance is in no way a predictor of future results. I would bat Keith 2nd, maybe the kid will take off and we would have a 2 hole hitter for several years.
  11. I'm more using hindsight. Canha struck out. Rogers could have done the same. Not worse. Put the ball in play, put pressure on the defense. Canha has failed in several games where a hit was the direct difference in winning or losing. Sorry I have an opinion, I didn't like getting him in the first place. But as long as he's on the team, Hinch will use him. Go ahead and hit him 2nd, let's see how many rallies he can destroy.
  12. Meadows is amazing in CF. He has to be special, taking Riley's position. If the kid starts hitting, we have our leadoff hitter. I'm rooting for the kid.
  13. Do you think Tork may actually be worse than Cabrera (in his last few years)? Both are a liability on defense, very slow on the bases and limited OBP. Miggy still seemed to get some clutch hits at crucial times. Tork appears lost at the plate in most of his at bats. Tork will get multiple chances to fail only because of his drafted position.
  14. Agreed. The kid doesn't appear overmatched. He's raw, give him a chance to get used to this new league.
  15. He pinch hit Canha, a RH hitter, for Rogers, another RH hitter. Rogers has more power. 2 outs and men at 2nd and 3rd. Making an out is the worst possible outcome. Canha made an out. My response was "Rogers could have done that." Yeah, what I was saying is that it was a failed attempt. Canha may have a good OPS, but he hasn't proven to be very clutch.
  16. 9-9 so far in April? With 9 games to go? We need to go 5-4 to have a winning month.
  17. Hinch is just giving Tork a partial day off. He'll be back at 1st base for the next 20 games. (Or longer). It's why we don't have a full time DH. To rotate guys getting a rest.
  18. Greene leading off doesn't bother me, it's Canha hitting 2nd. The guy just isn't a 2 hole hitter, too pull happy, rolling over grounders to the left side. A double play waiting to happen.
  19. It's all in the mitt. A 1st baseman mitt is designed to scoop throws. Most 1st basemen have to scoop throws from the infield. Is Tork better than most? I would say no.
  20. While I agree about Tork at 1st base, I disagree with assuming other players are better. They've never played at 1st base, so until they play there for several games, there's no credibility in saying they're better there than Tork is. They could just as easily be worse.
  21. Deciding run scores on Tork's inability to field a throw or a ground ball double play. But no criticism. He'll hit some home runs, eventually.
