  1. I don't usually agree with negative posts but this one makes sense. If the Tigers slide continues into next season, heads should roll. They prolly won't, but they should.
  2. Pay Boyd $30 million for 2 years instead of Cobb $15 million for one season, for starters. I'm sure there were other starting pitchers available that he didn't go after. (Or couldn't) Be more aggressive with Boras over Bregman. Make an offer in November and give him a week to decide. Turn it down? Find another 3rd baseman. What did we get? Boras dragged his feet and all the other players were signed or already traded. And Harris saying "Oh well, I tried." Look. I get your opinion. Harris was in charge when we started contending. And we all like being in a division race. But I have to agree with others, Harris didn't really do much to build this roster. So all he had to do was to add a few quality players to the roster full of Avlila's players. And at that he's failed miserably. Sure, give him another off-season to acquire the needed players to get us over the hump. I don't have much faith that he'll be able to but he's our best chance.
  3. Yeah, I shoulda said 4 All Star pitchers.
  4. The Tigers will play loose with nothing to lose. Let it all hang out with no worries...uh-huh
  5. Oh...I just heard Leyland repeat it. And Earl had quite a pitching staff, four 20 game winners. Back when complete games were still allowed.
  6. That's horrible. He stood in front of the plate and tried to bunt that ball. It was off his bat and hit his face. Not Skubal's fault but he's still a stand up guy to visit and make sure he's OK.
  7. Momentum is only as good as tomorrow's starting pitcher. Jim Leyland said that. Of course, he had 3 or 4 future hall of famers on his pitching staff...😅😅
  8. If Riley wants to remain as our #3 hitter, he has to cut down on the strikeouts. Even if it means sacrificing some of his power. 200 strikeouts per season is just way too many... And Harris must start making meaningful trades. Use some of that minor league talent to get us major league talent. They will be more expensive, salary wise, but that's the cost if you wanna win. As for free agents? No more of these bargain bin rejects. Players coming off of injuries, bottom feeder teams rejects or players in prove it contracts. Actual good players who can come in here and help this team, in 2026. Not having bullpen tryouts deep into September. I don't see any of this getting done. The bean counters will say it's too expensive. Heck, I'm still waiting on them to spend the Cabrera money we were told was coming off the books to spend.
  9. But the Baltimore defense may be highly over-rated. Living on their past reputation. Look at their game in Buffalo. Not many teams lose when they score 40 points. And Detroit exposed their weaknesses. Detroit (and Buffalo) have top 5 offenses but the Baltimore defense is no longer dominating.
  10. The game in Philly looks tough. And winning in Minnesota is never easy. Then we have road games @ the Rams and @ Washington. As well as @ the Chiefs. Any of those games could be losses. But after beating Baltimore, I like our chances in those games more than I did last week.
  11. But he released Maeda. Maybe he out a Bobby Layne type curse on us?
  12. But do you agree changes need to be made? At least bringing in new hitting coaches? Something has to give, keeping the status quo feels like it would be a mistake.
  13. Look no further than Minnesota or Baltimore from 2024. Both were playoff teams until crashing late in the season. The Tigets overtook the Twins while Baltimore exited the playoffs in the wildcard round. Both teams followed that up with a horrible season this year. They kept up the losing. Is this what's in store for Detroit? Is our September the new norm? We're going to be a .250 winning % team? 2026 may be a very long season.
  14. He's only 27 years old. Lockroom issues...
  15. I just hope the Detroit Lions were watching tonight and take the frustration out on Cleveland this Sunday. Just pound them into submission.
  16. Not necessarily better. But...different. sometimes players stop listening to a manager/coach who's been there for a while. Whether it's Hinch or hitting coaches, changes are necessary. An important game like today? They struck out 19 times. Harris is safe as long as that bottom line shows they made a boat load of money. Baseball is a business and the profit is more important than the product on the field to the bean counters. They fail to see that a long playoff run would give them even more beans to count. 😏😒
  17. It's been such a slow fall from grace, I'm more disgusted than angry. Like...resigned to the fact that we're witnessing the biggest collapse in baseball history. This Tiger season will not only be talked about for years, it will be compared to any future team that blows a lead. 2 weeks ago, I wasn't paying attention to any other Central teams scores. I was watching Toronto, Seattle and Houston scores. Winning our division was a foregone conclusion. A choke job for the ages...
  18. I'm just saying I don't agree moving him has a 0% chance. Harris hasn't made any blockbuster trades but if he was ever going to, it would be for a package he just can't say no to. I just don't see him letting Skubal walk for just a comp pick. Even if he were to wait until the trade deadline, what if Skubal gets hurt or has a bad season? I would say there's at least a 20% chance he'll be moved this winter.
  19. It hasnt been the problem of the pitchers. It's our inability to score any runs consistently.
  20. Be grateful it isn't Paddack.
  21. No way. If there's an honest offer for him, Harris has to take it. He can't take the chance that we'll be in a tight race next year and have to deal him at the deadline. Keep him all year and settle for a comp pick? I say get a huge haul for him.
  22. What's amazing is the Guardians started this streak after losing their closer for gambling. I hope they get swept in the wild card round.
  23. I wonder how Skubal would do? We saw him in a deciding game last season, it wasn't fun.
  24. JV woulda thrown back to back shutouts.
  25. Enough of this nonsense. September 2025 Tiger baseball in a nutshell.
