I think they mean to save Skubal for the first game of the wildcard round.

So our only hope to have a home wild card round is to overtake Cleveland to win our division. We can't catch the #1 wildcard team. So we need to win and hope Texas can beat Cleveland. Texas is eliminated and has only pride to play for.

I looked it up, the Tigers swept Boston in May, 12th thru the 14th. 2 were walkoffs, Javy's second 3 run homer was in the 11th inning when we were 2 runs down. And in the first game, we clobbered them, 14-2. The 3rd game was a Malloy walkoff single. I bet the Sox are gonna want payback. 😅

Remember Boston's trip to Comerica this season? Didn't we have a couple walkoff wins? I think one of the games was 2 Javy 3 run homers.

Meh...we had a better record than the Yankees but we never had a better team. And losing Olson hurt but it's the lack of scoring runs that hurt us the most. The whole lineup went into a late season slump.

Lol..yeah. I just take solace in the fact that it's only a marketing artificial divisional race. I mean, I never thought this Tiger team was the best team in the AL and I didn't like people calling them that. They were the team with the best record for a long while but the defending AL champs would be considered the best team until they're defeated. The defending champions. And with so many divisions, and wild card teams, making the playoffs has gotten less glamorous. Winning the pennant is winning a league championship. Cleveland got real hot at the right time and we went ice cold at the wrong time. Historic comeback and historic collapse.

Keep it close? Jason said that too. Acting like the Tigers would be able to score 2 more runs this game to even tie it? Hint....wasn't gonna happen anyway.
