True. Team value increases no matter the product on the field. OTOH, you have teams like the Mets or Dodgers who don't seem to care about spending huge money on payroll. Yes, they're bigger markets and making more money but they're spending it for the best possible product. And if a team is run properly, they don't need to spend so much. Drafting and developing players can work just as well as giving out huge contracts to established starts. It's just much slower.
