gehringer_2 Posted May 30 Posted May 30 There were two dissents, but what is the logic of saying the exec can't change a status that it had the sole discretion to confer in the 1st place? It's exactly that kind form of logic that underpins bad decisions like Citizens United (e.g. a corporation is a creation of statute law that the court put beyond the reach of statute law). I'd love for there to be a better strategy to stop the cruelty of this admin than asking the court to practice bad logic. Quote

Motown Bombers Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago It seems ambiguous. I’m guessing that’s intentional. What does the ruling actually mean? Quote

CMRivdogs Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago Quote Justice Jackson in dissent: "The Court's decision to permit the Executive to violate the Constitution with respect to anyone who has not yet sued is an existential threat to the rule of law." Jackson: "Eventually, executive power will become completely uncontainable, and our beloved constitutional Republic will be no more." 2 Quote

romad1 Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago My father is 96 but his dad arrived in the United States from the UK in 1901 and may not have received US citizenship (he was a US Army veteran of WW1). So, Dad now 96 years old may have to go to South Sudan or El Salvador until his vague US Citizenship status (he was an USAF officer during the Korean War). Damn shame these cheaters, cheating the system. Quote
