Agreed. Remember when everyone was calling for Brad's head and most other people were predicting he was getting fired and then Avila extended him? Avila should have been fired that day for even suggesting it.

Looking up stats on GameDay shows Rileys struggles in his last 15 games. The kid is in a serious slump. I agree he has to hit his way out of it, but maybe lower in the lineup?

Man, that was an absolute rocket by Riley. One hundred-fourteen miles per hour, 22 degree launch angle.

EDIT: Of the 2,093 out-of-the-park home runs that were returned in this query (I tried to get every homer in the Statcast era, but this isn't even as many home runs as have been hit in the American League just this year), only 45 went out at a 22 degree launch angle or less. That's about two percent.

On February 19, 2000, Matt Nokes, who had just signed a minor league contract with the Cleveland Indians, was forced to land a planehe was piloting on Interstate 15 in northern San Diego County. Nokes said that the plane lost oil pressure and that he couldn't reach an airport.

"I went south, hovered over some cars, and waited until they cleared", he said.^[3]

Nokes later sold the plane. On April 2, 2016, the man he sold it to, Dennis Hogge, crash landed it on the same highway. The plane struck a vehicle that had stopped on the side of the road, killing a passenger in that vehicle and injuring five others, including Hogge.^[4

I don't follow the minor leagues but some of these young pitchers the Tigers have called up are very impressive. Hurter, Hanifee, Guenther and Montero. Are these guys are doing better at the ML level than they were doing in the minors?
