I had a Lincoln around the same time and didn't have beef with them except the dealer sucked.  Much happier in a different US car with better dealer service.

Having been in many Ford facilities the workforce is very conservative. As are most of the big 3

I doubt Bill Ford Jr has suddenly turned 180 politically. He's trying not to make additional trouble for his company, which is having enough trouble right now getting product out the door that doesn't have to come back.
