So, pardon me if I'm a bit skeptical about how horrified the guys being quoted in that story imply they are about the tactics being employed. They strike me as mad because it's the incompetents who are carrying it out amateurishly, instead of seasoned agents who are able to carry it out professionally and, presumably, surreptitiously.

My contempt for the agency is tempered by my experiences with US Secret Service people i worked with in the past.  They hated their agency and the job sucked.  But, being a federal agent is intoxicating.   The suspect types among them ended up working security at casinos.  Which should tell you all you need to know.   Others were high quality folks in my reckoning.   Perhaps there are some good folks in ICE and CBP.  Maybe.

So now the government will be shut down over American citizens being executed in the streets in full view of multiple cameras, all with different angles? While MAGA lies and blames the victims? This ends all the talk of shutting down the government over the health care subsidies or shutting it down for the Espstein Files. I say make it a 3 headed shutdown. Insist on defunding ICE, in its current form. Insist on ALL of the Epstein Files being released. And finally, insist on the Health care subsidies to be restored.

It would be nice if they would just ****can GDP and start using median family income as a better national economic health marker. Axios makes it sound like people's perceptions are at odds with their reality. They most certainly are not.  GDP may look good, but GDP doesn't buy anybody's groceries.

While we were tearing our nation apart.  The PRC (mainland China) is having some sort of tumult with the CCP and the military.  A bunch of stuff in the media among the ex-patriot community.   Its a head scratcher for me as a non-expert in China.

Its very natural to be sensitive to being addressed by an outsider as something you don't have any control over.
