It depends. In some cases it's just people walking out to show support.

And in some cases people make an effort to support small businesses instead of big ones-and that's a habit that can continue long after the day in question.

If you took the time to walk you won't forget the fellowship you felt during the walkout and you'll resist the nonsense bots that are permeating social media.

The problem is an economic issue. Small businesses can't compete with the big box stores or with on-line retailers like Amazon. Most people won't pay $30 for an item at a local store if they can get the exact same item for $17 from Amazon. I can't blame people for trying to save money, it's sometimes a matter of either going without or paying less.

That's a situation I understand all too well, and I suspect more people go through this than not.

For me, I've found that Amazon wasn't saving me money in the long run-and I didn't order enough or watch enough to justify Amazon Prime. And I'm lucky to live in a place with a lot of good, affordable alternatives.

We can only do what we can-even if for some it's literally helping instead of hurting someone.

I'm so ****ing disgusted and appalled that this man is my President. Whatever gets posted here today, it surely won't trump the alleged rape of a child. This is of course only an allegation, not a charge or a conviction. But it's so ****ing disturbing.

Great review..

Meanwhile noted film producer Jon Cryer is boasting the first week will gross $8 Million

Yeah, all the tickets that Tim Cook and Jeff Bezos bought.

And you talking about the actor from John Hughes movies?  That Jon Cryer?   He's a Trumper?

I only want to say this, and I will say no more. I don't know how much of this stuff is true, and nothing would surprise me. I have read about this Epstein stuff for years, for the record.

If this takes down Trump, and if he is guilty, I hope it does. But don't stop there. There are a whole bunch of other sick ****s who were also a part of all this. They ALL need to pay the price.

Nothing less is acceptable. I have a daughter. Nuff said. And probably better off not said.

Absolutely.  Anyone involved with this needs to be punished severely.  Most of them won't of course.  The rich and poweful can get away with anything.

Agree. The thing is though, as much as the people one the one side would currently like it to be true, I'm afraid it is not true that the rich bad boy's club breaks particularly on political ideological grounds, which is why as much as each side talks about the other, they never quite actually get all the way to dropping  the hammer.

They have already targeted Haitians in Massachusetts.  One of my students had his whole family deported last year.  He gets to stay because he was born here.  Lucky for them, they were sent to Canada instead of Haiti.  I don't know the details.

Every new thing that pops up is like another domino to the end of democracy. Not just the USA, they are coming for the whole world. They don't care about billions and trillions.  They want complete control and forced devotion just like North Korea. It's not just Trump, it's his filthy rich backers too.

Maga thinks it won't affect them, but they will have chains around there necks just like everyone else.

the generations after the WWII generation in Europe and the US have gotten lazy, and since we have been the richest, we got the laziest. For close on 35yrs we've basically forgotten to take care of all the things that make a society work - education, fairness, citizenship, equity, truth. So here we are.

*Destroyed decades-old alliances

*Ended international humanitarian aid

*Intimidated or sued higher education institutions

*Capriciously denied visas for “undesirable” nations - including student visas

*Cratered touism

*Undermined science and medicine

(It’s been a long year.)

Unfortunately you are right-just like rich Democrats like tax cuts, too.

And meanwhile a lot of kids continue to pay for it.

Truth.

I remember we all scoffed about the Civics classes, as well as classes on cooking, budgeting, and learning to report emergencies. Now I know how important they were.

The 70s were an interesting time to be in elementary school, but that's another story.

FINALLY. A fairly major media outlet finds the balls to report on this. This stuff was out there years ago. I believe someone (not me) posted it here in this forum within the past couple of three years. But, yeah—FINALLY.

Now if only some major media outlet will give the same attention to the murder part, maybe we will actually get somewhere on breaking the spell.

I think this goes way beyond purported ideological differences that everyone presumes divides the Trump/Elon faction and the Clinton/Summers faction. After all, they’ve all shared in the same wicked experience. Did anyone else happen to notice on materials released on this very forum that the Sinaloa cartel were also named among the Epstein island visitors? The ****ing Sinaloa cartel! They have no politics, but, apparently, they have been considered members in good standing of the rape chain gang.

The thing that binds them all together is not political like-mindedness, but the thrill of sharing in pure, uncut depravity, along with the knowledge that no one can flip on anyone else because they’ll be flipping on themselves, providing mutually-assured immunity. That’s the current thinking, anyway. Will that finally, FINALLY fall apart?
