I think as a person who actively watches the PRC.  Yeh, i'd trust them before I'd trust this gang of crooks in the current MAGA party in power.  That said, they are going to do some self-reflection.  The PRC is struggling with the results of the current war showing their stuff doesn't work very well.  An F-35 damaged by ground fire?  I thought the PRC anti-stealth radars were going to eliminate our stealth advantage?   Puleeze.

One of the things I learned watching Russian mil-tech in the last 10 years is they love to claim things and people in the West love to parrot those claims.   Remember when the Bradley fighting vehicle was terrible and a death trap for our troops?  Well, it wasn't great for counter-insurgency work and dealing with IEDs in Iraq but its frigging great in Ukraine a mission for which it is well adapted.  That chain gun is the hyena killer. 

Similarly, Russian robot tanks and "5th generation" fighters are supposedly the bee's knees but can't be produced in quantity or communicated with effectively.   The Russians for having fought a war in Ukraine for 10 years can't do dynamic targeting for crap. 

The PRC having seen all this...very unsure of themselves.  Particularly when they just fired their entire Joint Chiefs of Staff - parallel(ish) organization in the Central Military Commission.*

 

*it would really be parallel if the Republican Party had appointed a commission of generals to ensure MAGA was being pursued correctly in the US military and that people were only accepting bribes from approved-by-the-party suppliers.
